Hey Jen -

Hopefully, this won't delay your surgery.  Just get and starting taking that script IMMEDIATELY!!

I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you to visit a tanning salon, but IMHO, you're just asking for trouble with that.  It IS hard to get sun in the dreary winter, so take your meds and eat dark, leafy green veggies - full of Vitamin D!!

Hang in there and keep us posted,

You can do what Tia said, or you can just book yourself a trip to Mexico for about a few weeks.......that'll send your D up!

It shouldn't delay your surgery I had to do prescription vitamin D for 10 weeks and now after surgery I bought a vitamin D supplement from the vitamin shoppe and it has 500% of your daily need of vitamin D. I don't know how old you are but the surgeon told me that anybody over the age of 30 especially you women need a D supplement for your bones more than us men even though we can get that bone disease osteosporosis. So even after you finish your prescription continue to take a D supplement. Also I really don't believe in the sun thing because before my blood tests I was in Myrtle Beach for 2 weeks on the beach with a 15 spf lotion so that wasn't much lotion for that sun, I actually burned. I was also told that milk will not give you enough either.

You women?

You said you women?!?!

GASP!

Okay, I'll let that slide because you did show some concern for the fragility of us ladies.

I want so bad to go to a beach that I just may do that, go to Delaware and lay on the beach.  I'll make sure I don't wear black and white because then they'd think I was a beached whale..........

Tia!  Wasn't there something happening in Rehoboth this year?

You did NOT just say that about you looking like a beached whale.  I am SO going to slap you!!!

Yes, Bethany, hopefully, sometime in June.  Gail K. has a place.  I actually need to send out an SOS for her, so thanks for the reminder!!!

Jen

It is not uncommon to have low Vit D.  Just do as everybody said and get on the RX as soon as possible. It is probably a little green pill 1 x a week.  I have had chronic Vit D before and after RNY and it did not hold up my surgery.  You will be fine.
