going to the doctor thursday

So I've noticed over the past week or two that I've started to get acid relux accompanied by a lot of burping.    At first I thought I may have just been eating too fast but I started to REALLY slow down and it still didn't help.  Anytime I eat or drink the burping starts and it gets worse when I eat food.  I was very uncomfortable at work this morning from the acid and started to get scared.  I called Dr. Lidor's office and they want to see me tomorrow so I'm going at 10:00 a.m.  

  I take my "acid reducer" pill every morning as directed by Dr. Lidor.......I hope to god that they're just going to tell me to increase the frequency or dosage of the acid reducer.  I'm praying that this isn't an indication of anything serious.  I'm nervous.....especially because everything has gone so well thus far.  Its almost like its been too good to be true.    

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the burping and acid reflux?

You did the right thing in getting it checked out. It may be nothing, but it is best to know for sure. Sometimes our imaginations can make a situation much worse than it really is. I know I do that myself.

I will keep my fingers crossed that it is something easily managed or tweaked!

I'm glad you called your doctor.  I don't know about everyone else but for me, there's absolutely no acid being produced in my pouch so if I have heartburn, it's down where the intestines meet up again past the pouch.  If you're getting reflux up into your throat, i would think that is serious stuff.....don't mean to scare you but that's the way i see it.  I have never gotten heartburn or burped much (other than when i drink coffee) since my surgery.

I glad you getting it checked.   If you have a gallbladder that could be some of it.  I had a lot burping recently but then it was associated with constipation which ultimately resulted in a small bowel obstruction.  I was luck it is resolving itself.   Follow the advice of your doctor and get the jump on the problem and keep us posted.  Thought and prayers are with you.

Terri, Aaron & Debbie....thanks so much for your input and well-wishes.  I still have my gallbladder so in a way I'm hoping that it's *just* that....as opposed to something more complicated.  

  I didn't sleep well last night....had a bout of diahrrea in the middle of the night which made me nervous because that NEVER happens to me.....so I'm off to the doctor in about an hour. 

I came to work to try and occupy my mind....i'm a worrier so I knew if I sat at home I'd MAKE myself sick.  For now I'm just sipping on a protein drink (and burping and burning).

I am so glad that you are going to see your doctor today.
I had a situation last year that when I would eat it would hurt my pouch and I was feeling burning and felt like I needed to belch but I couldn't. My surgeon prescribed carafate and I took that for a few weeks and then it went away.  If I had not taken the medicine I would have developed an ulcer.
