Terri -

Please don't be hard on yourself.  You kind of have to start healing again, so take little steps.  Trust me, it helps to have a bottle...............OF WATER............with you at all times, even at your bedside.

Just do the best you can and concentrate on taking care of yourself!!

Hey Moe-Moe!!

When I was at your stage of post-op-dom, I couldn't conceive of EVER being able to drink as much as I do now.

I will say that on my first post-op visit though, my surgeon was impressed with the amount I was able to consume - I think really because I just had a bottle with me AT ALL TIMES and sipped constantly.  Even at bedtime, I'd put a bottle of water nearby and whenever I woke up, I took a drink.  It does add up.

Another trick - if you're chained to a desk during the day, do what I STILL do.  Line up all of your water bottles so they're in your line of sight.  If you can't see them, how will you remember to drink?  As soon as you finish a bottle, crack open another one.  Don't forget, the s/f add-ins make plain water more easily doable.

But don't fret - your consumption WILL increase and eventually, you'll be able to chug that fluid down!!

Hugs,

Tia

Yeah, I'm a little worried about going back to work  --- I am a retail store manager and I can't have any food or beverage on the sales floor (we can't even chew gum)- and when I get wrapped up in something I know I'm going to forget.  I kind of wish I was chained to a desk.  It's also not one of those 8 hour work days... it usually turns into 10-12.  At least I have a sucky commute that take an hour at minimum on a good day... I guess I'll have to drink up then.  Maybe it's time for a career change.

Well, yes, that presents a bit of a problem, but it's not insurmountable.  I know this is a long shot, but maybe you should speak to your boss about letting you hide a bottle of water somewhere?  Heck, take a note in from your doctor!!

However, barring that, try to drink as much as you can before you leave the house and during your commute.  My commute is the pits, too, and I generally can drink about 30-40 oz. during my drive, sometimes more, depending upon traffic.

Make SURE when you go back to work that you keep some protein bars, ready to drink protein shakes, peanut butter, nuts, etc., in your locker or wherever so you don't have to depend upon someone going out for something.  For the first couple of weeks or so, take foods that you can tolerate easily - there is NOTHING worse than getting sick at work from something that didn't like you.  TRUST ME!!!

I hear you on the career change, although the job market says differently!!

Hang in there!!  It'll all come together.

Thanks, Tia!

Yes, I'll definitly keep some things in my office... I haven't been sick from food yet, and I don't want to!  Thanks for the advice.
