Pressure restriction from high altitude??

Ive read several posts on the lap band site questioning if restriction is changed after riding on an air plane. For me it has. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am in Los Angeles visiting my husband who has been here on business since Sept (woo lucky me)...lol..and I almost immediately noticed my super restriction upon landing. Well actually in the air...I could barely drink a cup of orange juice. That has later transpired into semi-troublesome dining experiences...Ive only been able to eat soup and mashed potatoes..ohh and wine..(smile)

Ive also noticed for the first time that we have nothing in common. Food was a major part of our life and still is for him. Well I cant say we have NOTHING in common...It just is very awkward to go to dinner with him now...I am still heavy..far from my goal weight...but meals just arent as "important" to me..I could take them or leave them..They arent as enjoyable...

Im just venting because this has been bothering me since I got out here...

Heather, I think it's one of those things that varies person to person, but for me it was REAL!  Ironically my trip was to Los Angeles too and restriction was increased in the air.  My issue lasted for days and was complicated after getting stuck and needing to barf (cycle of swelling).  I was on the tight side to begin with so tahat may not have helped.  Try sipping warm tea and use a heating pad to loosen up the band and decrease any swelling.

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

Thanks for answering..I am going nuts here...I was hoping that it would subside on its own, but we have been traveling from sea level to mountains on a daily basis and I think that is what keeps me from leveling out..this is CRAZY!!!!!!!

Heather, I hope the band issue resolves itself.  In the mean time I can relate to your lost common interest in dining with your husband.  I knew it was going to happen with us too.  We used to love to go out, had a favorite place, alwasy got the same thing, now I don't get any where near excited, pahleeze, and we used to always get an adult beverage, he says its no fun with out me so he doens't get one either now.  Maybe these are good things, I supppose so, but I still miss the emotion.  You know, I guess it's attitude.  We need to make it fun no matter, look for the enjoyable things besides the food to make it special.  Let me know how this goes for you.  I'll try too.

Hi Heather!  Sorry to hear you're having a hard time with restriction.  I can't offer any advice but just wanted to say hope it gets better soon!
