I'm back from a complication

What a week!

So - I was recovering great on Tuesday, thinking that things were fine and working on getting down that entire protein drink (only taking about 6 hrs......ugh!).  Well, all the sudden it felt like I had gulped the entire shake down, and I had pain everywhere.  Then, severe nausea and vomiting like a Sci-Fi movie.  Thank goodness my Nurse Mama was there - she immediately recognized that something was very wrong, called Dr. Singh, and took me back to St. Agnes - turned out, I had an obstruction - Dr. Singh says that the connector from my pouch to my intestines got kinked and tucked under the bowel.  He operated again, as there were some adhesions that were aggravating the issue, and thought that I'd be out of the hospital in the next day.

I just wasn't feeling well when it was time to go - and Mom convinced me something was wrong and that I needed to stay another night.  Next morning, we found out that I had pneumonia, and, unfortunately, I have many allergies to antibiotics - so, I've stayed in the hospital until yesterday on IV antibiotics.  They sent me home on something Oral - and I'm sure the pill is full of concentrated evil.  It makes me sick to my stomach for hours after ingesting it....I've got 7 more pills to take (thank goodness just one per day) - but, am tearing up right now at the tough of having to swallow this little piece of hell.

I guess I'm a bit shell shocked right now.  I'm grateful for my guardian angel of a mother.  I don't know what I'd do without her.  I'm still scared of everything I put in my mouth.  I know that I have to take my meds - but, I dread it.

I just keep hoping that this will all be a bad memory....quickly.

O M G!!!  Poor Mel, it sounds like you've been to hell and back!!  I'm so sorry this is happening to you; I know how grateful you must be that your Mom has been there - thank God for her!

I'm glad to hear that Dr. Singh was on top of things; have you called him about the pills?  Maybe they have it in liquid form.

Just hang in there!!  I hope things turn around for you quickly!  Keep us posted!

Hugs,

Tia

Hoping you are on the mend soon. Sorry to hear that you had to go back in to take care of an obstruction. It's nice that your mom was there to take care of you!  They make the best nurses!

Feel better soon!

Oh Mel honey,

I am so sorry you definitely have gone through hell and back. Thank goodness that you had your Mom there with you.   I am glad that the surgeon fixed the propblem and now you are on your way to recovery.   I don't know about that nasty med but I would call the doctor to see if there was something different to take if it makes you so sick.

I hope and pray you get to feeling better soon.
Keeo us posted on your situation. Please remember that if something does not seem right call your doctor immediately. That is what he is there for.

Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Oh holy cow. You poor thing. I will pray that you are soon on the mend. And mom's are a blessing, aren't they? I lost my mom in July and boy do I miss her. I woke up all weepy the other morning just wanting my mommy--seems that wanting mom when you are sick doesn't go away with age. I'm so glad she is there for you and that you truly appreciate her.

Hang in there kiddo. I'm getting a zonker of a cold or the flu, so won't be on much I don't think, but I'll keep you in my prayers.

Best to you,

Denise

Thank you all so much for the well wishes!

My Mom came to the rescue again with the med - and decided that when I take it I need to also have a "snack" of something like cream of potato soup.....worked like a charm!  Kept the super nasty taste out of my mouth - and kinda washed the pill through my tummy so it didn't get to sit there plotting its evil revenge on me.  My Mom really is an angel - I don't know how I'd do this without her.

She has me feeling a little better tonight - she drug me off the lazy-boy and had me get in the shower - why don't they have those at St. Agnes?  Always amazes me how a shower can change your outlook on life.

I'll def. keep you guys up to date on my recovery.
