From my bedside at St. Agnes Hospital
Hello Everyone-
My husband brought me my laptop to the hospital tonight because he thought it would keep me busy and take my mind off things for awhile and he was right (for once ). So I am sitting here reflecting on all the nice thoughts and prayers from several of my OH/Facebook friends today so many of them got me through a really rough day. A very special thank you to Kristen and Jilly for taking the time to post about me and a special thank you to all of *****sponded and for all of you who are keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I know I have not been that particpative in daily posings and attendance at support groups and activities but it has been a rough year for me at work at home and health wise. Many of you know I suffer from Orthostatic Hypotension and many days that really kicks me in the A--! There are days I find myself trying to function on blood pressure that is as low as 80 or 45 sitting down and with no reading on the meter when standing. I have a pill I take 3 times a day to help but lately I think I have built up a tolerance to it,so it does not work that well, and unlike HBP medication where there are several on the market there are only two for LBP and one does not work at all for me. I have also been going to numerous specialist to try to find out why I have this and the testing continues. Just a week ago, I was in the hospital for the evening getting two - litter bags of sodium fluid because I barely had a pulse and the blood pressure was only 60 over 35 sitting down. Last night, I was stricken by severe abdominal pain along with profuse vomiting
and called Dr.Averbach at 1am who called me back immediately and told me to go to the ER so woke my husband Tom up who drove me there. After spending the night on IV, pain medication and nausea meds I got some relief had a CAT Scan and Xrays and Dr. Averbach came to see me to tell me that it looked like I had a small bowel obstruction and a "kink" in my intestines but it could be the xray view. He admitted me and I am currently on IV fluids and starting to sip I hope I keep in down, because they are talking about an NG tube and I am scared to death of that. Prior to my RNY in May 2008 I have had two bowel obstructions that resolved themselves with IVS and medication this is different now and may not be possible because of the RNY. The one positive side is that if I need surgery I am now 120 pounds lighter which will help. I am really worried about how I will do because of this curse of the Low Blood Pressure. But it is in gods hands
now and all your thoughts and prayers are helping because the nausea has went away and the pain is subsiding without meds - so thank you!!
I will keep you posted and I love each and everyone of you
, you are wonderful and your support means more to me than you will know. I am going to try to get some rest! For all you facebookers look out tomorrow my cell phone is charged up now!!
Going to try to get some

So here's hoping that you get some pain free rest and that this thing resolves inself without extraordinary measures. Hopefully, your blood pressure will behave through all of this. Even though it sucks to be in the hospital, this may be the best place for you right now, just to make sure you are OK.
Hugs and Best Wishes,
Debbie
