Update on Dad...grim outlook
Today my Dad got the official results from last weeks CT guided biopsy along with more details on his situation. We found out Dad is at Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. Without treatment he has 6 months to live and WITH treatment he has 16 months at the most. He's going to have another CT scan to check his belly (seeing if it's in other organs) and an MRI to see if it's in his brain. They know it is in his bones (and because of that they will not remove his lymph nodes which also have the cancer) and they'll do another scan to see where all it is in his bones, they know it's in his ribs. He's starting chemo the first week of March. I asked Mom how Dad was doing and she said Dad is disgusted and I told her he'll go through a whole range of emotions in order to deal with it all. I told him he has to stay as positive as he can to help himself. So, it's been a rotten day. We've all just got to process what the situation is and move forward from here.
Heather sorry to hear about your dad. My mom has been battling lung cancer and they said no hope. We took her tosee agreat doc at UMMC in Balt. The tumor has shrunk from a special radiation they used. She will go back in May for a follow up. I wonder who your dads going to? I reccommend them up on Greene St. They are fantastic there. They show much love and keep you up to date. I love them there. If I can help just let me know. I will send prayers and angels to stay by your side.
Hugs,
Julie

Thanks Julie. Dad would have an easier time and more options I think if he didn't have it in his bones and lymph nodes. They'll know even more after further scans (full body scan of his bones and scan of his brain and belly). He's in PA so he's seeing docs in York. Today I suggested he go to Hopkins (minutes from my house) or the cancer center in Philly, but it didn't sound like he wanted to since he likes the specialists he's seeing now.
