Hi there!
Welcome Maureen,
I haven't been on the boards much lately and I keep promising myself that I will try to get on more often. I'm glad I'm here tonight to welcome you. My name is April and had my RNY in September 2007. I have lost 220 pounds and I feel great. This has been an incredible journey for me.
I wish you well. If you have any questions or just want to share some thoughts you can pm me. And come back to the board often.
The people on the Maryland Board are great. They are supportive, kind and generous. You will see what a great group we have here.
Again, welcome aboard.
On our way ...
... to a better us!

Welcome Maureen! I too, did not start becoming active on the boards until I was post op. Now I don't know how I managed without it pre-op as well. I find the folks here extremely warm and helpful. Talking to others who can relate is invaluable. Besides the great friendships I have found, this board helps keep me "connected" to the WLS life.
Wishing you all the best!
Debbie

Hi Maureen!!! You're actually the second Maureen on our boards - the other we call Mo. Is that your nickname also?
Mo and I are actually veterans of the boards - Mo's 4 years out and I'm ALMOST 4 years out, so I feel like I have a vested interest in the Maryland Board. It is a WONDERFUL place, full of loving, supportive people who are ready to do whatever we can to help each other - new or not.
I'm glad to hear that things are going well. If you get to the point where you're thinking, "WHAT did I do?" trust me, the first 6 weeks or so are the toughest. After that, it all becomes trial and error as far as what you can eat. Just remember to follow, as much as you can, your surgeon's and nutritionist's guidelines, and it should continue to go smoothly for you.
I will echo what everyone else said, too - please join us here on the board as much as possible!! We also have get-togethers frequently, so please keep an eye out for them, too!
Hugs,
Tia

Hi Maureen (aka MoeMoe) ..
I've been Mo all my life .. and I have a REALLY humorous story about it .. I was born February 1, 1950 which is the day the Battleship Missouri (the Mighty MO) was floated free of the sandbar in the Chesapeake off Hampton VA. I was always told that I was Little Mo named after the Mighty Mo. When I was in HS my best friends mother started calling me Mo and I didn't understand where it came from until she told me that her best friend in HS had been Maureen and they called her Mo. That was when I found out that Mo is the common nickname for Maureens. LOL Professionally, I go my Maureen and I get called Mo by various people who would have no connection to my family/friends nick for me .. it's really pretty funny.
Welcome to the boards! You can be Moe with an 'E' .. I defintely do not use the 'e'. Of course, friends have made me Moie, Moie-poo and Mosie too !
Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
