On a note related to this topic - after I was a few months post-op, I took my fiance to some place in Little Italy for a birthday dinner.  It killed me that I couldn't eat any of the carby bread they put on the table for us, but I got over it.  I ordered tomato and mozz. and thought, ok cheese that'll be good for me.  The tomatoes turned out to be hard and not flavorful at all, so that kind of sucked.  I think I had a few bites of one slice of tomato and then had one slice of the cheese with it.  I ended up having a few bites of my fiance's chicken parm (no pasta, mind you) but overall, I was disappointed in Italian food post-op.  I rarely get a craving for Italian food anymore - I suppose because there's not many options for me.  Guess that's a good thing though, considering Italian food is what contributed to my morbid obesity to begin with

Well, I'm not a huge bread lover, so I'm okay with that.  As far as the tomatoes, since it's February in Baltimore, I wouldn't order the caprese salad anyway.

I lean more toward the fish, shrimp, chicken that is sauteed with veggies kind of Italian food.  I'm not a big fan of the breaded, fried, greasy, etc.

I don't know that I get a craving for much anymore - which is good, since I used to constantly give in to my cravings!!!  I do think the first thing I craved post-op was salad!!!  And I was delighted to see that any protein I put in the salad went down easier with the help of the salad veggies!!

Good point about the tomatoes in February - you're a smarty!

I'm with you on the fish/chicken dishes.  I am not into shrimp, so that's not my bag, baby (I know YOU caught the Austin Powers reference!).

I craved salad post-op, too.  I hear it from a lot of others too, so it's kind of crazy.  You'd think we'd crave "bad" food immediately post-op.  Amazing that a fresh green salad came to mind instead :o)

BTW - you have a new PM!

Hey Tia,

Can honestly say I've never eaten at ANY restaurant in Baltimore, but I wanted to let you know I hear you about the lasagna and your pouch.  I have no problem with lasagna whatsoever, but for some reason I have all sorts of troubles with a plate of pasta.  I don't know if it's the sugar in the sauce or what.  I would have thought that with the lasagna being much thicker than, lets say spaghetti, that I'd have a harder time.  Not so.  That's okay though because if I had to choose one over the other it would be a no brainer.  I absolutely love lasagna.  Only problem is there are only two things I can cook - steak or chicken on the grill and spaghetti.  Lasagna is something I haven't even attempted to tackle.

Okay, Andy, I'll pm you my quick and easy cheater's lasagna!!!!!

I can eat any kind of sauce, it's the actual pasta that just sits in me like lead!!!  A bite or two and I AM D-O-N-E!!!!
