RESTAURANTS IN BALTIMORE'S LITTLE ITALY
My Mom's bday is February 25, so I'm taking a furlough day and taking her out for the day. Antique stores, craft shops - all the stuff she likes and I DISlike!! LOL!! Anyway, I thought I'd take her to Little Italy for lunch, but wanted to see which restaurants you like.
I've been to Sabatino's
, Vellegia's
, Chiapparelli's
, and German's Trattoria
, but we want to try something different.
Keep in mind that while I like trying new things, Mom's not into anything TOO different - she prefers traditional Italian dishes.
So, share with me, please!!!
Thanks,
Tia

Thanks, Candy!
I can't do a lot of pasta - actually lasagna is okay for my pouch - I think because of the cheese, meat, sauce ratio to pasta, but I can't do a plate of pasta, even with a lot of sauce. I can do Chicken or Eggplant parm, too.
I've only been to Sab's once, but couldn't really see what the fuss was about. It's my personal opinion that a lot of the older restaurants down there are simply trading on their name.
Thanks,
Tia
It has been a while since I have been to Little Itlay and I can't remember the name of the place we went to. I found this list on-line. Perhaps it will stimulate a recommendation if anyone has tried any of these - http://www.littleitalymd.com/
If you love eggplant and ever happen to be in Delaware - you need to stop at the Border Cafe - a Tex Mex restaurant (down the street from Delaware Park) and have their Eggplant Royale!
It's my favorite dish of all times! That place stays packed all the time and the food is cheap but plentiful.
The Eggplant is sliced long, and fried; then it's "sauce" is actually melted cheese and lump crab meat. They serve it with a side of black beans and a side of rice which I don't eat.
When I was a big eater, I still couldn't eat all of the food - so now, it'll be 2 left over meals if not more when I get it on Monday.
