What we can learn about patience from a diamond

Trying (but failing) to see your goals realized can be frustrating. Margaret Thatcher once said "You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it," and she was absolutely right. You've got to believe that you will succeed! Never admit defeat as long as time and effort remain. Our greatest asset is patience; our greatest weakness is throwing in the towel. Banish discouragement and feelings of impossibility by working hard, doing more, and not giving in! A diamond was only made beautiful after millions of years as a lump of coal.

Ok I was sitting here thinking and I wanted to share that there was a time when I believed that I would never be able to lose weight and be healthier.  I had yo yo on diets forever and was about to throw in the towel. Then I found this place full of wonderful supportive people and knew that if I stayed focused that I would eventually reach my goal of getting the surgery. I am glad that I never gave up and had the patience to overcome the hurdles that life threw at me.   At first for a few years I believed that it was near to impossible to get where I am today.  I am so glad that I never gave up!!!!!

Gotta run to take Gianna to the pediatrician but I will be back later to read your responses.
I am sure that this post will help many people especially new members that are just trying to figure out things.

I never thought I was capable of being thin again or living healthier and more active. I felt doomed to be obese forever. One day I woke up and realized I couldnt live like this any longer.,.. No self esteem, aching knees when I walked, sleep apnea, Diabetes, aches & pains that I couldn't explain and no zest for life.

When I realized that there were tools out there to help me become healthier and I was a candidate for wls, I let nothing come in my way of getting the help I needed to become the best me I could... that of course is always a work in progress.

Thanks for your thoughts Cira!

Hello Cira, I am there now and its a nasty place to be. Sometimes you cant see your way through the mess. I am tired of sleep apnea, sore kness and no energy. I am hoping that I can get the band so I can start losing this weight. I got hurt at work in 1996 and the pounds have just piled on. I am 300 lbs and hate it. I pray everyday that I can do this surgery before its to late. I worry about dying and my kids not having a mom. I want to be around for grandkids. I will have patience and I will pray and I will just geyt a bigger towel...Thanks for your message it touched me....

Never give up honey. Stay focused and keep moving forward.  I hope and pray you get the wheels rolling soon so you can get the help you need to shed the pounds and be healthier.
Have you set up to go to an information session yet? Have you decided on a doctor yet?  I think it is time to take the bull by it's horns and do this for you.  Let me know if there is anyway I can help you with anything.  I am here for you remember that ok???

Love,
Cira

Cira, Thanks for your support. I am looking at docs and I hear Sweitzer is very good. I just got the info pack from his office yesterday. I am going to try to go to one of his info sessions. I am also curious how Tiffanies procedure went. I dont want to do the bypass I just dont think its for me. I guess everyone has their own surgery they like. I am tired of wanting and waiting and I have BC & BS federal insurance. I hope they will cover it. I am doing accpuncture now to and trying to keep calm as my mom still is so ill. I am her only daughter and she is unable to drive so I must do many things for her. Thats what I need to do but I need to worry about me too. Thats so hard because I care for everyone and put me last.....I am trying to break that habit... Thanks for the message....I hope all is well with you and your family. I check the board often and see you are doing great...Take care...

                                                                           Luv,
