Because I like planning things...
If you need help with the contribution, let me know. I'd like to do this walk thing as a group and get to know you guys personally. And like Ren said, it's one day, one night.
It's a relay. So when you're tired, you sit out for a bit and let someone else do the walking. It's not about constant walking. People can also bring their children and spouses to walk if they like!
I'm looking into a few ways of making getting contibutions easy at work. I like that people can just do it online though!
Hopefully we can get 12-15 people interested and involved and make this an annual OH Forum event in honor of those who have suffered through cancer and in honor of our good health now that we have lost weight and our own health has improved.
Whay say you?
do you have more info for this? I tried to look at the website and either it is vague or I am just having a blonde moment and not looking in the right place.
For instance it starts at 7:00pm, how long is the walk? How many miles etc?
Also its a relay (forgive me) but what exactly does that mean? how do we switch off to another team member?
April,
Here is a good video on Relay for Life so you can get a better idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYFsV2C4KHc&eurl=http://www.r elayforlife.org/relay/whatisrelay
This is about a cure for cancer.... but it's more! It's about Friendships, and Teamwork. It's ENERGY, FUN, CELEBRATION. It's a party that benefits the cancer society.
How it works is this:
It's held at Essex Communicty College. It begins at 7 p.m. in the evening and ends the next morning. We walk the track in groups and when you're tired, you take a break. When you feel refreshed, you rejoin the ones walking in our group. Please do watch the video and you'll see the excitement and energy!
There are many different ways of raising money for this event and if you decide to join us, I'll be happy to give you some ideas if you need it.
I do hope you'll consider joining to help the American Cancer Society, but also for yourself, for the exercise and the friendships of fellow OH'ers!
If you have any other questions, do let me know. The video gives a good overview of the event.
Thanks!
Ren
to find a picture of her and put it on my page: Aunt Virginia never had any children of her
own and used to love coming over to our house on Christmas morning to watch us
unwrap gifts: I remember one Valentines day I baked her a cake in my Easy Bake oven and
we mailed it too her in Florida.
