Okay - some of you probably noticed this at the Quarter Auction.

I'm oblivious to things and stare at people.

Some who have read my previous posts may know that I'm special.

Not in a DJ N. way (WINK), but that I'm different.

And no, I don't ride the short yellow bus anymore LOL

I am hearing impaired.  I wear hearing aids, and supplement my hearing loss with lip reading and on occasion, very rusty sign language.  I talk like I am not hearing impaired so people tend to get thrown off by that.

That being said, it's not that you may have a booger on your face or spinach in your teeth.  I may just be trying to see what you're saying when you're talking.

I may give up and stare outside, at my plate or pick my nose or play with what hair I have left when I get a bit overwhelmed in concentrating on lip reading.

Or if I'm trying to follow along, and I say something that is totally unrelated to what you're talking about as part of your conversation, I do not have Tourrettes Syndrome.  I might have misunderstood what you said.

Hubby will probably poke at me to let me know someone's talking to me or us.  I'll refocus again.

No special treatment is needed - no need to speak slowly unless I ask you to.

Just be yourselves and have fun.  I don't want anyone feeling awkward so hence the heads up!

And PS... my boss, Kelly,  is coming to breakfast - She's RNY'd last September, so she's a Loser.  So try not to share any dirty secrets that might be held against me during evaluation

  Capeesh?

See you all soon!

Dang it!!!  I think I love you!!!!  You just crack me up!!!!

Don't worry, honey, they're used to dealing with me - dealing with you will be a piece of cake!!!!  S/f, of course!!!!

But thanks for letting us know!!!

My boss tells me that my facial expressions speak louder than anything I say, so keep that in mind!!!

We're gonna have a blast!!!!

Well dangit! I'm just plain out and out oblivious! I did not notice that you were wearing hearing aids.

If I notice you staring out the window, or picking something I'll just throw some food at you to get your attention.... that werk?

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.
