Amusement Park Idea?
I love roller coasters. Last year when I went to Kings Dominion, I had difficulty fitting in some of those seats that I actually would sit on my hip just so that I appear to have fit in the seats.
That was the moment for me that told me I needed to do something.
We drive down to Richmond at least once monthly and always pass the Kings Dominion. (My mom lives in Chesterfield).
We happened to be on our way back when I had an epiphany when I read the sign at Kings Dominion.
For some of us, we may have denied ourselves the fun in riding roller coasters, and had to stand on the side lines listening to the screams, wishing we were there in those seats.
Now, for us on the losers bench, have we noticed that the seats have become bigger than we are? Can we set foot on a roller coaster? Can we actually walk through the park and have fun? Can we walk by a funnel cake stand and snub our nose at it?
Can we pick a park and a date and a rainy day date this year- and terrorize the amusement park, amusing ourselves? Preferably a weekday while school is still in session? (Lines are much shorter for more giggles)

My final straw to have wls came in Ocean City with my niece and nephew (the lights of my life). I was SO upset to have to say, "I'm sorry, Tia can't get on there with you." Then and there, I decided that the following summer, I WOULD be on there with them.
And I was!! Screaming at the top of my lungs to my brother waiting on the sidelines - "I fit!! I fit!!!"
What a feeling!!!
I'm going to Hersheypark with K on May 30 for a band competition, and we'll be spending the night and visiting the park, but I'm game for another park and any day, really. With a little notice, I can take off whenever. My only preference would be BEFORE it got TOO hot!!!

I figure if I have to take a furlough day - I'm doing to do it with fun! LOL.
I am not sure where everyone lives, and how they travel, and how far anyone wants to go. So I am hesitant to suggest a specific park for now. I'll wait and see what everyone says.
Then I'll get back to the podium with some more concrete details.

We could even do a day trip to OC - 3 hours from Baltimore, obviously closer for folks south of Baltimore.
Personally, I think anything more than a 3 hour drive for ANYONE is a bit much, especially after being out in the sun all day and then driving home.
But I'll be interested to see what others say!!

I used to be a big amusement park ride fan in my younger days before I determined I could not do it any more because of size. It has been so long that I am actually nervous about seeing if I still like them (not size related). So I would be willing to try. It might be one of those things where I do it once and get hooked again. I will just have to wait and see. So if we plan something, I am interested. I am game for a day trip and possibly an overnight trip. I can't be definite until I know of the suggested date. It really depends on what is going on at work whether I can get away.
