Give me strength!!
I'm going to my PCP tommorrow to start my pre-op six month monitored diet required by my insurance.
I haven't weighed myself in four years, and at that time I was 290, I imagine I'm near or over 400 now.
I know I'm going to break down on the spot when I hear the number tomorrow, and go home and want to EAT!
UGH.

Yes, tomorrow is going to be hard. But there are so many positives about this moment that are a little difficult to see right now.
You are taking a positive action by seeing your PCP to make a better life for yourself. It takes a lot of courage to make the decision that WLS is right for you. This appointment is an important one to help you achieve your goal.
The number on the scale is just a number, a physical thing. It is not who you, a person is inside. It is a stake in the ground. You are saying ENOUGH! Later on down the road, after you have had your surgery and achieved WLS success, you will back proudly at this number and how far you have come.
Please know that I and the other participants on this board who are at all stages of the WLS journey are here for you. Feel free to call on us at any time.

((((Hugs))))) Oh dear, I can feel your pain through your words. But don't be so hard on yourself. Be HONEST, and remember every meal is a new chance and a new choice. You can't change the past, only the choices you will make from here on out. We are here for you. The 6 months will go fast. Just remember to do everything that your insurance co. requires.
And you have taken the biggest step of all!!! You should be proud of that.
My Pastor gave me a few wonderful words.
" Only the truth makes free" and "Better is the end of something than the beginning thereof"
Facing the problem is the biggest help for you, following through is the hardest, but the most worthwhile.

Many of us, myself included, have been exactly where you are. It takes a great deal of courage to take that first step, so please take pride in the fact that you are doing this.
Good luck, keep us posted and by all means, don't be a stranger. In addition to the information that you can find on here, you WON'T find a better bunch of friends!!
Hugs,
Tia

UPDATE!!
I'm back from the doctor, and I didn't pass out when I heard my weight, so I consider it a good visit.
lol
While I was sitting in the infamous little room where you wait for the doctor, I was thinking of the encouraging words I read in this thread. It really kept me from jumping off the table and leaving.
I did gain almost 100 pounds over the last few years....not shocked.
I'm 380 LBS.
*sighs*
Long road ahead, but I took the first step today.
