Been a while
Hello I have not had surgery but have been thinking about it for a long time. I live in Crofton MD and would love to do the band as I am scared to do bypass. I am also leary of trying to get a good doc. I know it is hard to stay motivated as I am trying to eat right and exercise and I have no willpower or motivation. You have crossed a big hurdle and I wish I could tell you what to do. I will support you if you need any support. Just drop me an email and I will try to encourage you as much as I can.

First, I want to congratulate you on your success! You have done a great job!
You have run into the struggle that many of u**** sooner or later. As someone else on this board likes to say, 'If only they could operate on my brain"! The good news is that our "tool" prevents us from doing as much damage as we would have done in the old days. We do need to work on the things that drive us to eat when we do not need to. There are all sorts of things to try, either individually or in combination depending on what works best for you. Some of the ones I can think of are listed below. I am sure others will add those I may have forgotten.
Go back to basics to remember the fundamental rules. Refer to the instructions given to you by your surgeon/nutritionist.
Attend support group meetings. This helps you stay connected to the WLS life. Take advantage of the support from others. This board is another form of this.
Use some kind of accountability tool such as an online or written diary of what you eat. Set goals and plan ahead of time what you will eat for the day. It is easier to go astray when you do not plan ahead. You can even participate in the accountability posts that appear here every day for exercise, food, and/or fluids as needed.
Consider counseling. Sometimes it helps to have an impartial 3rd party help us sort through our issues regarding food.
I use all of these tools. I do still struggle from time to time. Still I know that deep down, I will not go back to the old me. The good news is that even when I stray, I do not allow myself to go too far. You can do this too.
I wish you all the best. Feel free to contact any or all of us as much as you need to. We are here for you, for each other.
Debbie

We are all doing great!!!
I am so sorry you have been having such a hard time. I hope your Mom is doing better.
I am glad you are having time for yourself. It is important to make time for "YOU". Have you gone to a information session yet with any surgeon? There are plenty of GREAT docs out there. Dr. Von Rueden at St. Agnes, Dr. Averbach, Dr. S....and many more. Plenty out there that many of us have had great results with.
Know that we are here for you and please remember that I always keep you in my thoughts and prayers too. Especially your Mom.
Stay in touch ok.
Hugs,
