Quarter Auction- The Explanation
When you first go in, you'll pay $3 for a paddle with a number on it. This is your auction paddle.
Each time they auction something off.... the general rule is for every $25 it's worth, it will cost you a quarter per bid. Therefore if they are auctioning off an item from Pampered Chef that is valued at $75 it will cost you 75c to bid for that item.
You will put your quarters into a bucket on the table and hold your paddle up and someone will come by and take the quarters.
The "auctioneer" will then call out a number they choose from a bingo baller. If someone has the number on their paddle that corresponds they hoot and holler and the item is theirs! If someone did NOT choose to bid on that item but their number is called, they yell out "NO BID" and the next number is chosen.
I usually take about $40 with me.
The auctioning starts at 3 p.m. The doors open at 1:30. I'll be there then to secure a table for us. This will also give us the opportunity to talk with each other.
They will also be selling food and drinks (though I'm sure it won't be anything healthy!)
Again, this will be held at the ELKS Lodge in Essex on Homberg Avenue.
If you are planning on going, please let me know so I know how many seats to hold.
My regards,
Ren
