Dr. Kligman & BCBS FEP

Hello All,

My name is Tammy Howard and I am going to see Dr. Kligman to get my EGD done.  I was wondering if anyone has had Dr. Kligman and how long after their EGD was their sugery scheduled?  I have BCBS Federal and also wanted to know if anyone has had problems getting their sugery approved and about how long it took to go through.  Any information would be great!

I didn't have Dr. K but I wanted to wish you all the best in your journey.
With my doctor after I completed all of my testing they submitted the forms to the insurance for approval. It took 2 days for an approval. I have Aetna HMO.  But normally it takes about 2 weeks and sometimes longer.  After I got my approval my surgery was scheduled for 4 weeks later.

I had Dr. K and I had my egd in the middle of April (April 16th to be exact) and my Surgery was May 8th.  I don't have BCBS federal but I know that their approval process is fairly quick since they allow almost anyone to have the procedure done.

Hi Tammy :o) I had Dr K and just had my surgery Dec 4 2008. I also have Federal Blue Cross and its AMAZING!!!!! They paid for EVERYTHING including the entire surgery all the test, EGD and hospital stay. When I called BCBS to let them know I was getting the surgery they ask me if I was sure it would improve my health and I said "ABSOLUTLEY!!" and they said "OKAY" and it was as easy as that. And with Federal Blue Cross you dont need a 6 mos pre op weight loss so I got on the O.R board really FAST!!!!! Nice to meet you and great pick on surgeons!!!  He's one of the best.  I'm not sure about your insurance, but my approval came in about 4 days and I was scheduled within a month.  Hope everything goes just as quickly for you.  Let us know if you need anything else!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to coment on my questions!!  I have all my tests done exccept the EGD which is tomorrow at 8:30 am.  I was hoping to have my surgery by the last week in Feb. so everyone keep your fingers crossed!!!!  Thanks again!!!!
