I just figured out how to change my avatar to my pix instead of a flower. I'm so technology challenged.

Heather you hit the nail right on the head...  Support groups are great.  I would even recommend starting to go to them now before the surgery so that you can get to know others that have gone through what you are going to go through.  It may prepare you better too for what is going to happen post op.  Meeting new people and making friends with others that have been there is a great thing.  The people I have met face to face and even just talking to on OH have been WONDERFUL and a big support to me when I feel that things just aren't going right.  Support groups can kick you in the ass when you need it and even be there just when you are not too sure about yourself and the surgery.  DEFINATELY get into one or more group.  It is well worth it.  We even make time to all go out in an "non support group" setting....like last night... OMG, what a night!!!!!!!  I will be posting pics from that later...lol

Welcome to the MD forum!

Yes support groups are important. It is always good to meet with people that can relate with you completely.
There is a group support in Crofton Library near.  Kelly W is the group leader.  If that is near you you can post a new message and I am sure she will respond to your message.

I have made a lot of wonderful friends through support groups.  I am now located in Charles Town WV but I used to go to the Crofton support group when I was living in MD. Also there is a group in Glen Burnie too I am sure someone will chime in where they are located and when the meetings are.

Best of luck in your journey.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Thanks for the info Cira. I live closer to Glen Burnie, so I think maybe I will try that one.

I do hope you join us in the GB group.  We usually meet the first or second week of the month.  Dan will post when it is.  Will have to see what music to dance/exercise to at the next meeting...
