Tylenol

What type of Tylenol do you all take for aches and pains (headache and jaw pain in this case)?  I've been taking the coated caplets but I only get very minor relief.  Does anyone take it in another form that may work better?

Thanks!

Hi Heather. I have not needed any since surgery but if I were to need some my list says any Tylenol and NO motrin. I have the extended release capsules here already. ;o)

Hi Heather,
Not sure how you feel about liquids, but I'm a big fan of the Tylenol Rapid Release Extra Strength Liquid.  I usually have no trouble finding it at my local Walmart, Rite Aid and CVS.

Any sort of extended release pill/extra coating will most likely not absorb so minimal to no benefit from taking it.

I used up all the Tylenol liquid I had after surgery then tried the rapid release gel caps- they dissolve a lot faster and I get relief from them.  I also use walmarts's brand Equate in caplet form and they seem to work OK.

Thanks for all of the replies.

This is the first time since a few days after surgery that I've been in enough pain to take anything.  I think I'm going to go with the rapid release gels first as I tend to gag on the liquids.

I take the Junior Strength rapid tabs.  They are the kind that can melt in the mouth.  Very yummy bubble gum flavor too!

I've only needed two at a time, and that's minimal.  But I figure you could take 4 to equate your regular tylenol dosage?

My husband picked up some or the adult last night.  I took them this morning and they worked pretty well, although the pain has subsided significantly.  The dosage is 2-500mg gels.

Thanks for letting me know about the junior strength, might have to try those out too!

Tylenol rapid release, because the extended release meds are not recommended after the intestinal re-routing.  The medicine doesn't dissolve fast enough to be useful in the extended release.
