My brain is working on overdrive!!  Most of the people giving me advice are the ones that have had c-sections before.  I've never had one, but I'm pretty certain is't a little different than RNY!

You were back to work on Monday, holy cow!  I'm quite lucky b/c I have off wor****il 2/5.  I'm quite thankful for that.

Thanks for your advice-super helpful!!!

Yup I was feeling fine when I went home. I was GLAD to be home. But I can tell you that a c section is worse! LOL It took me a few days to walk again after my sections. It is more painful too. RNY if your getting it doing Lap is just 6 small incision holes above your belly button and you get up and walk as soon as you hit recovery. You dont feel nothing like you do after a c section. But just keep in mind when you get home you should feel even better. If you are uncomfortable after your surgery...WALK WALK WALK! Most of my pain was from gas and all that air in my chest so I had to walk a lot and God that made a world of difference. You will do fine. ((((Hugs))))))))

Thanks everyone for your helpful feedback!  I"m just super nervous about it and I'm getting a 1,000 different suggestions/advice from my friends and family.  They mean well, but they've not ever gone through this surgery before so I didn't want to put too much weight on their suggestions.

I just want to get this hospital stay over with and start working on everything!  I've prepared and talked about it for over 6 mos, so I'm ready.

Thanks for your help!!

Kelly:

Wanted to say congratulations on your date.  I know that everyone is different with the pain, but I was at a family barbeque the weekend after my surgery so you'll probably be fine.  Just don't lifet anything heavy for a while.  The more you move, the better you'll feel.
Yeah, the hospital gowns are a pain, but they usually have larger (more comfortable) ones for us.  I would suggest taking a book, but you may not know what you read, you are on a bunch of meds, but it won't hurt.  I encourage you to take your pillow as well.  It helps to hold it against your stomach on the ride home and don't forget your pill crusher.  You're going to need it when you get home.
See you on the looser's bench!

Along with the previous advice, Definitely bring pajama pants - you won't feel so self conscious trying to walk the halls!

And make sure that those pajama pants are already too big or can be adjustable.

The big gowns they give us can be rather revealing and airy.......and if you're walking with the IV tower in one hand, try holding the gown in the other - you'll be uncomfortable......just a thought....
