aetna hmo - how long for approval?

 Just wondering if anyone else had Aetna Hmo and what their experience has been?

I had Aetna HMO and after they finally received all the proper paperwork, it took about a week or a week and a half to get approval.  However, I believe that they actually have up to 30 days after receipt of all the paperwork.

After submitting my papers to the insurance my doctor's office got the approval 2 days later. It was super fast for me.  But I have heard of others with Aetna HMO that has taken a week to two weeks to hear from them.

I had basically the same experience as Heather. They claimed to be missing some paperwork (the surgeons office had fax confirmation that it was sent) and they dragged their feet a little. I got on our company intranet sight and found a phone number for a dedicated customer service person at Aetna for our company, and she got to the bottom of the problem, and I had my approval within hours. Overall, it took 30 days. I can say however that just about everyone else I know with Aetna got their approval much faster. Just follow up as often as possible with their customer service people, and make sure they  have all the information that they need. Their website lists all their criteria.
