I have no idea about co-pays but I recall hearing the surgeons code it as inpatient - just in case there may be complications with blood pressure etc- but typically end up as outpatient. What time are you scheduled? Usually if they anticipate outpatient- its scheduled very early in the morning. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery.

If you're talking about the BC BS through the State of Maryland for their employees - they make us inpatient. I think at the Pre-Op class, they told us that the only outpatients are the Cigna insureds (because Cigna doesn't cover it as an inpatient procedure) and cash paying customers.
Who's your doc?
PS my health insurance doesn't have copays for surgeries - they are covered 100%, and also because I was inpatient, there wasn't a copay involved for admission.
Call your insurance company to find out the scoop. They'll let you know what you can expect.
