(Photos inside) At 3 mos. I am no longer MORBIDLY OBESE!!
At 3 months post-op, I am down 82 lbs from my highest weight on this journey, and have lost 74 lbs since my DS 10/2/08. That averages about 25 lbs lost each month. My BMI is now less than 40. I would like to lose 200 lbs, and so I am more than a third of the way there.
I am able to stand looking at myself in a photo again, and can walk around stores or stand and chat with someone without having to take sit breaks because of excruciating back, hip, and knee pain. I can eat and chew food normally in smaller portions without having to worry about getting sick to my stomach, have been able to keep my carbs below 50g and take my supplements, get my water and protein in, and feel much more energetic. I no longer take any meds for diabetes or nerve entrapment pain. I don't even need my arthritis meds so far. I still sleep with my CPAP, but the setting is much lower, and I have slept much better since surgery.
I haven't taken as many before and after pics as I had planned to, because I sold all my photography equipment to pay my WLS program fee and surgery deductible. I do miss my camera, but WLS was a very wise investment and I don't regret it.
Here is a comparison between my weight at 2 weeks post-op and at 3 months, and a photo from Christmas, showing how happy I am to be healthier and on my way to goal.
