Cardiac Clearance

Hi everyone,
I need your help again please. My Ins. Co. says my EKG is abnormal, so they want me to see a heart Dr.  Well I have a consult next week, but has anyone else ever had to have a cardiac clearance and can you tell me what all you went through ??

I honestly think the girl who did the orginal ekg was not too sure of herself. She kept moving those plug things around and went back to the machine and came back and made more adjustments, etc. I would appreciate any input that you want to  provide and thanks again.

Ellen:

I think this is a normal thing.  I also went to have a stress test and an EKG, but before they did my surgery they had to have a cardiac clearance from the heart Dr.  I made an appointment, it took about 20 minutes and he "cleared" me for the procedure.  Wrote a letter to my surgeon and all was good.  I don't think that you have anything to worry about.

I had an echo cardiogram done...

But some have to go get a stress test done and when everything comes back normal the cardiologist clears you for surgery.

Best of luck Ellen!

Keep us posted ok.

Hi Ellen,
It was one of my preop tests required.  I had a cardiologist consult, an EKG, an echocardiogram, and a persantine MRI cardiac stress test.  I was cleared for surgery but they just had to make sure and do the extra tests because of whatever occurred during the consult.
Try to not worry and think positive. It is just to rule out any risks during WLS.

I had to have this. I believe it is routine. Plus, I have an irregular heart rhythm and was onheart related meds before surgery. So I definitely had to have this clearance. However, I got it and went forward with wonderful results. I think you will be fine. I would much rather have a cautious surgeon than one who did not require these precautions to ensure the best outcome possible.
