Happy New Year Everybody!

Hi Everybody!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a great New Year's Holiday.  My wish for us all is a happy, healthy new year.

So how is everyone?  What's up in your world?  I know my pariticipation in this board has been almost non-existent this past year or so.  I'm no longer able to access at work, so I can't log in during the day.  In the evenings we've been so busy with everything that I have not had a chance to log in then either.  I'm not a big believer in New Year's Resolutions.  I say that not because I don't believe in the ability to change, it's the timing I disagree with.  Why wait until the new year?  Any day of the year is a good day to resolve to change something you don't like.  That being said, I am resolving (and it is coincidental that it's the new year) to make sure that I am a more active participant in this board.  We all need to be vigilant in our behaviors as newly post ops and for those of us that are a little further down the road.  Over the past few months, I've let some bad behaviors creep back in (bad food choices) and I've also not been able to exercise because we have not moved the torture machine (my affectionate nickname for my elliptical trainer) from my house to McHubbie's house as of yet.  I say that it's because I have not yet moved the machine, but its not like that is the only exercise I can do.  It's all about choices and I've made some bad ones.  As a result, I've gained about 15lbs and I can feel it!  In addition, I've been having some stomache issues since mid-October and I recently found out that my gall bladder has to be removed (small gallstones and sludge).  I thought I was being stupid and not chewing well, turns out the vomiting of bile and foamies (along with pain in upper right quadrant of abdomen) are symptoms of a gallbladder attack.  I have some work commitments that will keep me from having surgery until early April (unless I start having more bad days than good).  I don't like the fact that I've regained 15lbs and I want to get this under control before it goes any further.  I AM NOT going back to where I was pre-RNY surgery.  So my elliptical is still at my house and I can do other things until we get it moved.  Yes, my house is STILL for sale.  I have had some interest in it lately, so perhaps, with mortgage rates going in a positive direction and maybe the economy turning around, it will be sold within the next 3-4 months.  That would be wonderful.  In the meantime, we're living at Mark's and we're in the process of doing a small kitchen remodel.  That's part of what has taken my ability to log in to here in the evening (along with Christmas shopping and other holiday preparations and moving stuff from my house to his house).  Anyway, Mark and I are planning to eat healthier and exercise with the new year.  I'll be taking all those Christmas Cookies that I made to work so they can pig out on them.  I have to say, even though I've been eating them (2 at a time, perhaps a total of 4 a day, that's still WAY better than pre-RNY when I would eat 12-14 at a time!)

I will be posting late afternoon and hopefully some folks will still be online to reply (or perhaps they can reply the next day).

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve.  If you choose to drink, please be responsible and get a designated driver.  If you are out and you've not drank alcohol, please be watchful of those who have been drinking and have made the unwise choice to drive.

I apologize for the long post, thanks for reading!

Take Care,
Terry

We are doing good. It has been a rough end of 2008 but all we can do is stay positive and wish for a better 2009.
Gino and the family are doing great and we are expecting our 4th granbaby to make his debut sometime soon. I can't wait to meet that little guy.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Hey g/f!!!!!!  Wow!!!  2008 was the Year of Terry!!  Definitely a wild and wonderful one for you - actually, for your entire family.

You know I've missed you sooooo much, on here, on the phone and in person.  We'll try to rectify that as soon as humanly possible!!  I know that you haven't forgotten me, nor I you, but both of our lives get crazy at times.  At least after your g/b surgery, you'll have to slow down for just a "bit!"  I'm sorry that you have to go through that, but keep in mind that the recovery, if it's done lap, will be fairly uneventful.  By contrast, I had open g/b removal in 1990, and OMG! it was horrible!!!!  10x worse than RNY!!!!

Here's hoping you and McHubby have a wonderful 2009, filled with all kinds of blessings.  Please hug and kiss McMom, McSis & McNiece for me!!!!  Oh, yeah, you, McHubby and McDog, too!!!!

Love ya, miss ya, mean it!!!

((( Terry )))

Wonderful to see your post!   I'm there with the resolutions, though I am semi-guilty of putting off to the new year (make that Jan 5th) my resolve to start exercising my body and exorcising the food and drink demons !!!   I've let my Big Vanilla membership go since that was $59/month that I just couldn't get back into the routine after the last bout of kidney stones (well .. make it couldn't really get back on track after the FIRST real round of them .. ).   I did buy the 5 CD set of Leslie Sansone's Walk fit at home, so now I've got to fix myself a space in the dining room and set up the small DVD player so I have NO excuse not to exercise.   Now I'll be back to sleeping in my workout clothes again and setting the clock for 4:30 a.m until it becomes a routine again!

Good luck with the house sale.   We are getting ready to start some renovations on our house with the idea of selling in a few years, and hoping that things will rebound by the time we are ready to blow this place.

Looking forward to seeing more of you.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!
