To quote the Carpenters - "What are you doing New Year's Eve?"

Like I posted yesterday, I DID get asked out.  But since he and I both agreed that midnight is way past our bedtimes, we MIGHT go to my fave local dive for crabcakes early.  Not sure yet.

Tradition has it that we pick up some yummies from Attman's Deli on Lombard Street and have dinner at home.  G has to work, so we'll have KB tomorrow (if I'm off), and who knows beyond that.

In Tia's Dreamland, I've always wanted to go to Times Square for NYE.  SIGH.  Never gonna happen, though - most people think I'm nuts to want to do that!!

Happy will receive a yummy, too - in the form of a tranquilizer!!!!  My poor baby is scared to death of loud noises, fireworks, etc.  In fact, I just learned within the past week that she's scared to death of the sound that nail clippers make (WTF?), BUT, she's also afraid of the drawer where I keep them!!!!!  I often wonder what abuses she suffered before we rescued her - but it makes me SO glad that we did rescue her.  It's truly a dog's life for her now!!!

So......what are you doing?  Whatever it is, PLEASE, for your family and friends, be responsible if you drink.  Do not drive - call a cab, call one of us, pass out in the gutter if you must, but DON'T get behind the wheel of a car.  Keep in mind, too, that RNY patients generally absorb alcohol MUCH faster and are able to get pretty smashed on a much smaller amount.

So, please be careful and have a blast!!!

Hugs,

Tia

I was amazed the first time I saw Times Square - it's soooo small compared to how it appears on TV - no wonder people look like sardines jammed in there!!!!

Baltimore will be crowded, too, but fun - and it's supposed to be COLD!!!!!!!!  Have a blast!!!

A word of advice, though - since alcohol's an antidepressant and you've been feeling down lately anyway - stick to sparkling cider!!!!

Hugs,

T

Every year (and the same for this year) I go to my friends house for New Year's Eve. Some years it has been a huge crowd and other years a little more scaled back. This is one of the scaled back years, but even so, there will be quite a few people there. It is a family thing. The kids are starting to grown up. So they may hang a little more with the adults. Everyone brings food to share in addition to what our hosts prepare. It is always a nice time with friends.

We're going to my parent's house for a party. I hate crowded bars and I'm generally not a big drinker, so I have more fun hanging out with friends and family. It's always a good time!

Since hubby and I will be working tomorrow, I reckon that when we get home, we'll have something to eat and just kick back and watch some movies - if we fall asleep before midnight, then so be it.  Either way we'll wish each other a happy new year whether it's at midnight or at 5:00 in the morning.

The next morning, I am putting on the black eye peas - I love those things!!!!!  May just find a tiny ham or a few hamsteaks for hubby for me to bake for New Years.  Usually I get a big ham and dress it up for New Years - maybe that will happen again this year - just got to look in my wallet - and the stores prices to make sure we can swing it.

New Year's eve in Time Square is wonderful! But after WLS I can't handle the cold so I will never do it again! lol

We are spening it here at home with the kids. Hopefully Tara will not go into labor that night and we can have some steak, veggies and some sparkling cider. We will watch Times Square countdown on TV and dance with the children and a little after midnight put the kids to bed. Answer each phone call from my kids and crawl into bed to watch a movie. I will most likely fall asleep 10 minutes into the movie!  I can't hang like I used to anymore.  A baby and the kids that are up from early in the day can definitely zap anyone's energy by 8pm so being up at midnight is a miracle. lol

I hope you have a wonderful NYE no matter what you decide to do. I hope Happy doesn't get too scared poor baby. Give her a kiss from Rocky.  Did I forget to tell you that Rocky turned one on Dec 19th? We are babking him a cake and singing happy birthday on new year's eve. lol

STOP EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, you horrible, wretched person - you did NOT tell me my baby boy turned 1!!!!!!  FOR SHAME!!!!

I can't imagine you could get cold in Times Square with all those peopel in your back pocket!!!  That and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade are two things on my "bucket list!"  Of course, in Tia Dreamland, I'd be watching the festivities in NYC from The View, the revolving restaurant atop NYC's Marriott Marquis - with a handsome (straight) man at my side!!!  LOL!!!  Hey, it's MY dream, remember???????

LOL!!!!!
