I haven't had a stomach flu in a number of years but hubby started last night with nausea and vomitting and earlier this morning, my stomach is cramping/nauseous.  I drank half a cup of hot tea and am trying a few bites of a bagel.
Has anyone caught the stomach bug after surgery?  I am not sure what to do other than be sure to drink plenty of  fluids and wait it out.  Any suggestions for OTC remedies to help with the symptoms? Thanks for any advice.

Sorry you are feelng bad:  The only thing I can suggest is Tylenol cold and flu.
Keep the liquids going as much as you can.
Hope you both get better soon

Ugh, Karen!!  Sorry hubby decided to share this with you.  I've not had any stomach bugs since wls, so I can't tell you what to expect.

Maybe some antacids or Immodium - beyond that, obviously, if it gets bad, call DVR.

Hope you feel better soon!

My friend has it now too and she had WLS in May of last year. She said its the first one since WLS and she is just riding it out. She is doing her best not to get dehydrated. So please DRINK as much as you can honey. Maybe it will pass that yucky bug faster. Suck on sugar free popsicles or Luigis Italian Ice cups. It will keep you well hydrated. (((Hugs))) I dont know that taking medicine to "Mask the symptoms" is a good idea. I heard that causes more intense pain. I would just ride it out w/ o that crap. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon honey. ;o)

I actually had it when I was around a month out. I just slept it off and did S/F popsicles (they were the only thing I could keep down).

I work in a nursing home and we have it BAD right now....we're in "quarantine mode" because of the stomach bug.  Apparently all of the  hospitals and many of the local nursing homes are also being affected by it.  I'm almost 2 months post op and was panicked about catching it.......and of course I got it.  I just kept sipping as much as I could......and vowed that if it got too bad that I'd call my surgeon.  I survived...thankfully.  Its definitely going around!
