dehydration and fatigue
has anyone ever heard of being fatigued from not drinking enough liquids. I do not drink near the amount I am suppose to be drinking. I am so darn tired all the time...even more than prior to surgery.
Anyone have any insight? I will be going for bloodwork after the holiday and back to see the doc. I just cannot figure out why I am so tired all the time.

I recently had a stricture and got severly dehydrated because I wasnt drinking and yes it came with extreme fatigue from the dehydration. I have never been so tired in all my life as when I was dehydrated. I couldnt keep my eyes open I was so tired all the time, I struggled to just barely make it through the day. I ended up being admitted to the hospital because I was so dehydrated and so they could fix the stricture and after they pumped fluids into me, I felt almost IMMEDIATELY better!! It was amazing, I seriously cant describe how yucky I felt, and when I explained that to my doctor he said yes dehydration can really take a major toll on your body.

i don't know if they are medically connected or not, but i went through the same thing. be very careful that you do not develop a kidney stone like i did. drink drink drink. it's very hard for me, even mentally, to drink enough. i'm doing better, but not always as well as i should.
Hi Gail!
Not only will you be fatigued......if you are severely dehydrated you'll also be very dizzy and light headed pretty much all the time. I was that way for the first couple weeks after surgery and fairly recently. However I have been also taking a prescription strength vitamin D and taking extra Vitamin A supplements since I was deficient in those from my last blood test. I think taking those two things are really helping me come out of my fatigue because I have been tired every day since surgery. Now I'm starting to spring back.

Sounds like what I went thru my first 3 months post-RNY. Yes the two can be linked...could be low vit D, low B12 or even low potassium too. I had low potassium when I was dehydrated which also made me nauseous all the time. Hang in there and get that bloodwork done ASAP--- perhaps take some extra supplements too.

Gail,
I hope they find out what is going on with you. Are you taking B12 and B complex? Maybe you need to double up on all your supplements. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Keep us posted ok?

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Awwww I hope you feel better soon. I went through this last week. I was told it could be one of two things....Pregnancy or Dehydration. Well I AM SO NOT PREGNANT! LOL SO I knew I had to start sipping a lot more then I have been. I was told your waste comes through your urine too at this rapid weight loss phase so you need to drink even more water because crystals form that cause BAD kidney stones. I have had them in the past and YOU DONT WANT THAT!! Take care honey. (((Hugs))))
