Surprise Date

Good Evening Everyone,
I am new to the board, I have only ever posted one question about insurance. . . I had the surprise of my life today when I got a phone call that I have been given the surgery date of December 31st!  I was told to start my liquid diet tonight and I have scheduled my pre-op visits for the 23rd and 24th.  I will be having surgery with Dr. Greene, and am so excited to start this new chapter!  Any words of advice with the liquid diet?  I have been drinking Unjury for the past month, but am always looking for new options!

Sorry I can't offer you any advice on the liquid diet but wanted to welcome you to the board. That's a nice  surprise to have. Congratulations on getting your date. That's in 2 weeks girl. Best wishes.

I wasn't required to do the liquid diet under the program I was under, so I can't offer you any assistance there. But Congratulaitons on your date! What a way to start the new year! Welcome to the board!

Hi Heather & welcome to the Maryland Board!!!  This is a great place - we try to make it fun AND informative!!

Wow!!!  NYE!!  Talk about starting the new year off right!!!!!

Did Dr. Greene's office establish any parameters for your liquid diet?  Clear or full liquids?  Any solid foods at all involved?

Since you're Unjuried yourself out (LOL!), now's a good time to try some other protein drinks.  Check out www.bariatriceating.com, www.vitalady.com, for samples of protein mixes.  There are also lots of RTD's (ready to drink) protein shakes out there - my personal fave is the EAS Advant Edge in French Vanilla (I use it in my coffee).  As far as helping both pre and post-op to get your liquids in, Walmart carries their own version of Crystal Light, in a plethora of flavors!!!!  Of course, there's chicken, beef and vegetable broths and the ever present s/f Jello.

As far as protein powder I buy the one at Walmart body fortress i prefer the vanilla flavor. It is $14.00 for a an almost 2 pound jug.

Congrats on your surgery. I like the Gold Standard Whey Protein from GNC it has 24 G of protein per serving. It comes in Vanilla, Rocky Road, and Double chocolate. Make sure before surgery you are getting all of your protein from 7 - 100 grams a day. That will also help when you are healing from the protein haelping your cells.
