Hi Daniel!  I'm so sorry you're going through so many troubles right now but glad to hear from you!  the microwave meals may be alright.  The best thing to do is start being a label reader.  Look at fat content and sugar content.  the rule of thumb for me is that if it has more than 10g of sugar/sugar alcohols then I don't buy it.  For the most part, I apply the same rule for fat grams as well.  Although it's sometimes unavoidable to limit on the fat for something that's sugar free (go figure, if it says sugar free, it's loaded with fat and if it says fat free, it's loaded with sugar) however I don't have problems with a little more fat than usual.

I'm always a little leary of prepared foods because I can't control what went into it but if the nutritional information on the package is ok for you, then go for it.  make sure you don't overcook it or it will dry out and get stuck and you don't wanna be heaving out what you already ate.

I do a Lean Cuisine just about everyday for lunch, they are low calorie have pretty good protein in them but they are high in sodium.  Hope things are looking up for now it sounds like you have had a pretty rough time of it.  Take Care!!

WOW!!! You've really been through it!!  Hope you're on the mend soon!!!

I'm a little confused on the IVC filter, though - I had one implanted about a month prior to surgery, and there it will or should stay forever.  You say yours is in your leg?  You poor thing!!!

Anyway, perhaps the South Beach Living meals would be a better option for you as they're higher in protein.

Like everyone said, though, read those labels!!  If in doubt, call your doctor and/or nutritionist.

Good luck,

Tia

I sometimes do the Lean Cuisine or Smartones. I cannot eat a whole one but I do buy them and have eaten them in a pinch. They do make some that are strickly meat and veggies (no pasta in them like these meals sometimes have) so the carb count is very low. The sodium count is high so I stay away for the most part,  but when I am running late or behind and have nothing else, its something easy to throw into my bag that I *know* I will be able to eat.
