Christmas Music
I am not usually one for Christmas music, I like it but it gets annoying after awhile lol. However, when I heard this Christmas song I got chills and cried. It is a wonderful song. Here are the lyrics:
The Christmas Shoes
It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes
His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say
Chorus:
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight
He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes
So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight
Bridge:
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about
Repeat Chorus
I think this song shows how everyone should be. I know there are people out there that abuse the generosity of others, but it can't keep us from being generous to the ones who truly need it. I am a single mother, and times are very hard right now. However, every year I go through my sons clothes and toys, and donate them to my local church. They in return have the families who are in need come and look through all of the donations and pick what they like.
My co-worker leaves it on 101.9FM all day everyday lol. I have been listening to Christmas music since right before Thanksgiving, UGH!
Btw, you look wonderful! Congrats on your surgery!

Sorry, Becki, I don't mean to pee on your parade, but.............I HATE THAT SONG.
I appreciate the thought behind it, but back in 2003, my Mom was hospitalized to have 1/2 of her left lung removed due to cancer. They discovered the tumor on November 11, and she was scheduled for surgery on December 9. I was a miserable mess that whole time - crying all the time, everywhere - driving, showering, cleaning, cooking, on the phone, in stores, etc. I tried hard not to cry TOO much around her because I knew she had to be freaking out, too. It seems like I heard that song SO much during that time, and now I just can't listen to it.
Turns out that we got a Christmas miracle that year. Although 3 tests and 2 specialists conclusively said it was cancer, the pathology came back - NO cancer - just scar tissue. Of course, she STILL had the 1/2 lung removed because they couldn't biopsy it. She was supposed to come home a week after surgery, ended up staying for 3 weeks and came home on oxygen with chest tubes at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
I can'****ch the movie, either!!!!!

Absolutely love Christmas Music!! Nice song saw the movie but it depresses me but it is real to most. I tend to lean toward the classics like Nat King Cole- The Christmas Song, Karen Carpenter- Merry Christmas Darling, Dean Martin Baby it's Cold Outside, Andy Williams- A few of my favorite things but there is one newer one that I really love it is 'Mary did you know" Clay Akins has version the only one i could find but I love The Kenny Rogers version!
