Surgery at GW?

Hi everyone,

New poster here.  I'm wondering if anyone had surgery with Dr. Afram or Dr. Brody at GW?  I'm scheduled for an info session w/ Dr. Afram's people tomorrow and Dr. Brody's people on Thursday.  I'm trying to decide if I want to go to both sessions.  I want to get the surgery scheduled as soon as possible because my wife is pregnant and due in July and I want to be completely recovered before the baby is born.  How long does it typically take to get a surgery date?  (My insurance does not require the 6 month doctor supervised weight loss)

If anyone has any general advice also, I'd love to hear it.

Welcome to the MD forum!!  Congratulations on deciding to have weight loss surgery and Congrats on your baby!

If your insurance does not require the 6 months supervised visits then it all depends on how busy your doc is.  This can go really fast for you.  I don't have any advice on these docotrs but I am sure someone that has  had surgery with wither doctor will. It is a bit slow on the forum during the weekend.

Wishing you all the best & welcome!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Rocket -
I had surgery with Afram in April.  Everything has been great, I have lost over 100lbs.  I did have some issues at GW itself, but not with Afram or his staff.  Email me if you want more info on my experience with him.

Hi Rocket,
I have surgery for the realize band with Dr. Brody on December 11th. All of the people are great and you should be back to your old self in about 2 weeks after surgery long before your wife's due date. When I was approved by the insurance company it took a little over a month to get my surgery date so right now they are probably into the last part of January or the first part of February in scheduling surgeries. so expect at least a month wait.
