I TRIED A NEW PROTEIN SHAKE!!!!
Okay, at 3+ years post-op, I get MOST of my protein from solid food, which is how it's supposed to be for DVR patients. HOWEVER, for me, I've found that my program is a little more successful if I have a shake for breakfast. Because I can't tolerate MOST shakes out there - I have a huge gag factor - I tend to stick to the French Vanilla EAS Advant Edge - high protein, low carb, thin consistency. BUT, because to me, it still has that protein taste, I add mine to coffee or flavored hot tea as a creamer.
I was out of them and since GNC was pretty close, I ran in there to get some. Well, of course, they don't carry that anymore, so as I was reading the Muscle Milk container (even the light has too much sugar for me), the guy behind the counter recommended the Pure Protein canned shakes.
I bought the vanilla cream, fully expecting to want to retch, but it really wasn't bad. I took a sip straight, decided I could live with it, and added it to my coffee. No aftertaste or anything. And the best thing is - 35 grams of protein and 2 grams of carbs, 1 gram of sugar!!!
I know Trader Joe's carries them, so if you're there and searching for something at least somewhat palatable, give it a try!!

First, I must get this out of the way:
IT BE MINE!!
Okay, I'm right there with ya - protein powders + Tia =
THAT'S why I like the RTD's - they go down much easier!!!!
Also, Heather M. uses the chocolate Body Fortess from Walmart, and she let me smell it - virtually no smell!! For me, it's not just a smell thing, but a texture thing, too!!!!
Hope it works out!!!

lol she saw a commercial on TV for this baby doll last night and said "I get that a Christmas, IT BE MINE!!" I swear 2 year olds are so much fun!
*Usually* I am a texture eater too but the smell/taste of the protein outweigh my desire for a caertain texture. Preop I loved RTD for that reason the awesome texture, now I taste them all day and night if I drink one, its disgusting!
Well thats good info though about the one at walmart, I am going to try it! Thanks!
