. . . Tatoo?

I do have one, a butterfly, got it on Mother's day when I was 30.  Hubby got it for me.  I'm still very happy with it.  I'm thinking about getting another one to commemorate my WLS.

Tell me your thoughts.   Do you have one?  Where and what does it symbolize?

Hi Lisa, I have a tattoo on my ankle and it is a rose going throught a heart with my initials on it KM althougth my mariied intials are KW now, but as my mom says I will forever be KM and my middle name is Marie so maybe one day I will add a W to it.....LOL

I have wanted a new one since my WLS and have not thought of anything. My husband and I watch LA ink and I saw a girl get a dragon fly....it was so buetaful. So ten she said the meaning of it and instantly I said I want that, I want a dragon fly tattoo

Here is a little story I found that sums it up

The dragon fly is symbolic for change and being okay with it. Here is a story: The Dragonfly Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions. Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever. Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top. When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying. So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed. Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended. But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life!

Being 2 years out i still have a goal of loosing 50 more pounds so my journey is not finished but my I am definitly in my new joyous life, thats for sure

So now maybe this will be my birthday present to myself in February.....LOL

That is such a wonderful story.  Hey my birthday is in February too.  The 6th.  I have a butterfly tatoo and it is beautiful.  It's in a place where only a few people have seen it.  I think I surprise the doctors when they see it.  Someone asked me what it symbolized one time, the beginning or end of a journey and I said that it was the journey.  Everytime I look at it, I think about all the transformations in my life and what a wonderful life I do have.  I am blessed.  It's far from a perfect life, but I know it could be so much worse.
I hope you get it!!!

Hi Lisa!  I have wanted a tatoo since I was 18 but haven't gotten one yet!  I didn't want to get one until I found the perfect idea or picture for one.  Well, I found the perfect picture...which will work PERFECTLY for my idea...I figured it out about 5 years ago.  I have put off getting it though becuase of my size.  But now that I have taken my plan on the losers bench, I will CERTAINTLY be getting it!  I figure sometime after I get to the hundreds!

Hi cutie pie. I do not have any and I know how odd that is nowadays. LOL Mike doesnt have any either...NONE! And he so looks like he would. But the more we hear of people getting hep with tats the more we steer away from getting one. Mike has a very close friend that owns a tattoo shop in Glen Burnie and we always send people there because this guy is an AMAZING artist but we never get any ourselves. LOL Maybe one day.............MAYBE! LOL

I do have one - it's the outline of a boxer dog head in profile surrounded by a Celtic Knot.  A tribute to my love of boxers as well as my heritage.  I'm getting a second one - a memorial portrait tatoo of my boxer Colby, whom passed away last month.  I'm getting that one this Friday.

I've been wanting to get a lily tattoo to commorate my married name but want to wait for a while as we've only been married for 3 years.  Now, I'm inspired by the story that Kelly posted above and am thinking that once I get to goal I'll get both the lily and the dragonfly...two for the price of one, so to speak.
