Whats the steps need before approval with Dr. Kilgman.

Hi, I'm looking for new friends/supporters. I'm new here looking to have surgery. The suron I have chosen is Dr. Kilgman. I would like to here yall experience. Especially the ones before the approval process.

Hi sweetie. I have Dr K and he is AWESOME! He is stern but with good reason. He is the best at what he does!!! What insurance do you have? If you have Federal Blue Cross you are gonna be zipped through. With federal you dont need the 6 mos weight loss program before surgery. Most insurance companies now WILL pay for the surgery and Dr K's office can help with that. Did you attend his seminar? Then you call his office ASAP and get your first appt because if you wait he gets booked up fast!!! But trust me it will all fall in place. I attended his seminar in August and my surgery is Dec 4th. Thanks alot. Unfornatuley I have state Medical Assistance (Maryland Physicains Care) they cover the paln only if its medical nessacary. I'm 4 feet 11 inches and weight 244 thats medical enough. I went to the seminar on 11/19/2008. I have been seeing a nutritionist since October so this is my second month, scheduled a sleep study for 11/30/2008, a phyciatrist evaluation on 12/08/2008, see the cardio doc on 11/25/2008, a pap on 12/16/2008 and have my 1st consult with Dr. K on 12/17/2008 should I have waited for my first visit beore I scheduled these appointments? I guess I have to get a letter of medical nessity from my PCP. Add me as your friend please.

Maryland Medical Assistance should cover it due to your health being at risk. Do you have a case worker? BTW...its a GREAT thing that you have those appts all lined up now. Better to get all your ducks in a row now!! Let me know if I can help with anything. There are two Dr K patients on here who have sooooo helped me. One is Lisa Z and the other is Aaron and they are SWEETHEARTS! So I am sure when they get a chance they will pop on here and help you out too. All the best. ;o)

Hiya hon!  It seems that you're on the ball!  Dr K will love that :)  By the time I had my first appointment I had already been seeing a dietician for my 6 month dietician requirement for the insurance and he was happy with that.  Nadja, the nurse there will give you a packet of information during your first consult and you will also talk with Mary Beth the nutritionist.  Basically it's a package deal, you see one then you have to see all three LOL  But it sounds like you're well on your way.  Now one thing you will need to remember, I think things like the psych eval are only good for a certain amount of time so if you have your consult before the psych eval, and you can't get your surgery in the next 6 month to a year, then you might have to get it done again.

Yes, I am a Dr. K, patient and fan.  He is the best.  Looks like you have all your appointments lined up.  The more you have done before your first visit, the less you'll have to do.  My advice.  Don't miss appointments with your nut (or you'll have to start all over to be considered as 6 months continuous) and listen and do everything the Dr. says.  He is a wonderful Dr. and is all about your success.  I'm a little over 6 months now and down 105 lbs.  I would have never thought that just six months ago I would be in the 100's.  I can't remember the last time I was.  Maybe in elementary school.  I wish you all the best and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!!!!
