Stalled
Good Morning,
Hope everybody had a good weekend. I'm feeling a little discouraged. I haven't seen the scale move in over a week and I'm hungry. It's been 3 weeks today since my surgery. I've been power walking 5 days a week. Sometimes I forget I even have the band. I hope when I get my first fill in 2 weeks things will change. I was really hoping to see a big differance in my appearance by Christmas but now I'm not so sure. I'm just a little discouraged.

Hi Jackie!
First of all....Christmas is still a long way away and I'm pretty confident you will see a difference in yourself by then.
Regarding the band and being hungry. Try to be patient. The band takes a while to get you where you want to be restriction wise, but when you get there....it'll be sweet! My very close co-worker had LB about 13 weeks ago and she has lost 24 pounds, so see, you are doing great! Eat like you are supposed to, protein protein protein and lots of water and the pounds will drop. How great you are doing all that walking too! You must feel sooo much better! Oh, and are you journaling your food? Just to make sure you're not over doing something you shouldn't. Keep up the good job Jackie!!

Hi Jackie,
I totally agree with what M/C posted to you. I had the RNY so I don't know too much about the band but I just wanted to let you know that to stay focus and do not get discouraged you are doing everything right and it will get better especially when you get your fill.
Christmas is an another 2 months and you will definitely see a big change by then.
(((hugs))))

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
Those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

I had my band placed on the 16th of September so I definitely know what you are going thru. I am down about 20lbs. I don't own a scale because I don't want to be obsessive about my weight. I would encourage you to give your scale away! Only weigh yourself at doctor's visits.
Unfortunately until we have our first fill we are simply dieting! I'm being very mindful of what I'm putting into my stomach and I'm trying to keep protein the highest on my list and carbs on the bottom. If you are hungry you might want to try some softer solid foods (if you haven't already). I graduated to solids a little early due to hunger. Tuna fish is my best friend :)
Don't be discouraged! I have my first fill next week and I'll be getting 4cc. I'll let you know how that goes. I have the Realize band as well.

I would tend to think that with bandsters that the weight loss would be slow at the beginning because you haven't had your first fill yet so there's really no restriction. Once you get your first fill and they determine your sweet spot the weight should fly off you but in the meantime, follow the directions your surgeon gave you and when you get your first fill....THEN you're going to feel it :)
Well I'm glad to see it's not just me. I began my day feeling discouraged like you. I RNY the same day as you, and my scale has only moved 1 lb since last wednesday. Oh I'm pissed, hurt, discouraged etc. In the first two weeks I was dropping almost 2lbs a day. So I keep trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I go over and over what I've eaten, and don't see why, but to stall this long at the beginning is very discouraging.
Keep you chin up that's what they keep telling me.

I forgot to tell you that your weight loss is AWESOME for only being 3 weeks out! I'm glad you put that scale away! Because I don't own a scale, I just think about how I feel....and I feel a lot better! 20lbs gone makes a difference!
As for your workout routine, are you walking on treadmill or outside? If its a treadmill I would suggest putting up the incline to a 4 or 5. Its better for your knees and it raises your heartrate so you can burn better!
Good luck!
