... and feeling like death slightly warmed over. I was released from the hospital last night. Had several complications, but everything seems to be under control now.

I'm lookin forward to some of the pain to subside and for my energy level to at least return to normal.I settle on my house in two weeks and no clue how I'm going to pull off the rest that needs to be done. (Looking forward to meeting my new neighbor in essex!)

Thanks for all of your prayers, wishes and strength.

My regards,
Ren

Ren -

I'm so glad you're home - I know YOU are, too!!  Don't push yourself - just walk, sip and rest.  Your energy may not come back immediately and it's going to take a while for your body to get over the shock.

As far as the move, everything will fall into place, and once you're here, I'll be happy to stop over and help.

I wanted to call you yesterday but didn't, figuring you might not feel up to talking.  Call me when you feel up to it!!!

Hang in there!!

Hugs,

Tia

Thanks Tia. I would have enjoyed talking with you, but just don't feel up to being on the phone yet. I've tried to keep track of my steps so that I can increase them each time.

I know I'll begin to feel better soon, just didn't realize how bad I'd feel at first.

~hugs~

I'm sorry, I can't remember if yours was lap or open?  If it was open, that would explain a WHOLE lot!!!  Did you come home with a drain?  That could be adding to your pain, too.

Hang in there, sweetie, it'll all be but a memory soon!

Tia,

I had open RNY. No drain, A 3" long incision and they put a catheter in my neck which was scary.

I'm feeling a bit more energized though. Can get out of bed and off the sofa w/o assistance! YaY!

I hate feeling like a drain on my DH. He's such a great guy and supporter. Although if he offers to chase me around the house once more for exercise I'm gonna hurt him. LoL j/k.

He heard I was supposed to walk 30 minutes a day, and thought that I was supposed to do it all at once.

In time! I will be walking curly-Q's around him! :)

Looking forward to the "good foods" of Stage 2!

~hugs~

Hey Ren,
Dr. Roe did my surgery too. It tends to take a little longer to recover than lap, but shorter than those who are fully open.

I found that since I was so muscular before surgery (i had very strong core muscles b/c of my job) things like walking and standing up straight were very hard and I couldn't lie flat. It made it really hard to breathe.

Don't worry aout your DH, oh I felt like such a burden to mine, but he didn't mind. He actually said he enjoyed taking care of me some.

Good luck,
victoria

victoria,

Hi!

Great! Maybe I'll get the opportunity to meet you at one of his monthly meetings!
How are you doing 3 months out?

Unfortunately, I have little muscle tone so I do not have that working for me; though I heard surgery works much better for you if you are muscular.

I keep saying, I just wana lick a cheeseburger, I don't need to eat it!  But I know all things in good time. i've also heard that there are some pretty good veggie burgers out there.  Food with substance... I sure am looking forward to that.

My DH takes good care of me too. I just think I give him a lot to handle.  LoL! I know that he does enjoy it, or he'd not be around still. I think I was trying him on for size through all those years, to make sure that he could handle me having surgery for WLS. He's been very giving and great at pampering me even prior to this point.

I have heard, that there are some people who turn to other "issues" since they can no longer eat the foods they used to... such as alcohol or sex... have you had any strong cravings towards any of those that you hadn't had before? I definitely know to steer clear of the alcohol.

Thanks for the uplifting thoughts. I hope you continue to progress well.

Warm regards,
Ren

Ren,
I live in Carroll County so I don't go to Dr. Roe's support group meetings... It's too far to drive and I'm normally working... I work weird hours.

I have found that turkey burgers are great! I did them as soft foods... blenderized with some Ketsup for moisture. It worked for me... i also did some Smart One's freezer meals and let me tell you like turkey and mashed potatoes (blenderized) was the yummiest thing ever.

As for the sex question... I'm young and married... What can I say???? lol.

I don't think my issues really have changed. I still eat when I'm bored.... I'm trying to stop that... I just can't eat as much. And I dump really bad from sugar so I have to buy everything sugar free. And if you eat too much of it, there's a laxative effect that you have to deal with.

All in all it's going well. I'm 3 months out and down 57 pounds. My clothes are huge, but I plan to wear them until I can't anymore. I'm no longer a diabetic and my high blood pressure is gone.... So I'm healthier now than I've been in over 5 years.

Good luck on your journey,
Victoria
