Dumass insurance companies

Well my appeal letter was sent out on Sept. 10th and it was supposedly received in MD-IPA's post office box on  Sept. 13th. So thinking they would take the whole 30 days to give me an answer I let it go up until yesterday. I called the insurance company and was told that they had not received it. I sent this package 3 day priority with confirmation which I had gotten that it had been delivered and that they did not share a postal box with nobody. Well now the cherokee indian has come to the surface. I proceeded to raise holy hell and that they did receive it and that this was a clear case of trying to make me get discouraged and go away huh wrong person....me go away ....not likely. The lady on the other end passed me off on the rapid resolution team I then proceeded to tell them that this company's right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and that I planned on contacting OPM, my lawyer , and my congressman and tell them what clear cut lack of professionalism that they really have and that maybe a lawsuit would wake them up, and I know that you can get more bee's with honey than vinagar but I am pissed now. They in turn did not satisfy me and I asked for a supervisor immediately. so they transferred me, then was told they were in a meeting so i told the girl that if I didn't get a phone call by 5:30 pm I would be on the phone with Steny Hoyer and my lawyer along with the insurance board of maryland. I received a call from Ms. Vicki Rinehart and she told me that all this was ridiculous and that she was going to do alot of searching on this because I was being treated unfair. So I faxed her all of my papers and she is looking into getting this expedited with her bosses and she is also sending a copy of my appeal letter and papers to the appeals board to get this resolved quickly. So i proceeded to tell her that it better be favorable or I would still be calling all of the aformentioned people plus about this, and she said this will be her priority til it is resolved. All of this comes after a very rough week of losing a friend in the state police helicopter crash so my mood wasn't exactly favorable when I talked to any of these people. I am fed the hell up with all this bulls--t and I am about to say screw it. This is beginning to be a pain in my ass. Sorry for being so brash but i needed to vent and not on my friends here.

That's Ok - go ahead and vent. It is extremely frustrating to deal with all of the red tape in this world. I have hopes that this person sounds like they are taking personal ownership of your case. You did what you had to do and now they need to give you a decent response.

My sympathies also on the loss of your friend.

Dusty -

First of all, my condolences on the loss of your friend.  I worked with Steve for my 8 years in the Aviation Division.  Under his goofy exterior beat the heart of a man who LOVED MSP, flying and most of all, his family.  Hopefully, his death will NOT be in vain - but as I suspected, all the politicos are seizing the opportunity to try to get rid of the program.  Steve would be horrified at the thought.  My office window overlooks the MSP Fallen Heroes Memorial - I don't know when Steve's name will be added, but I'll keep you posted.

I am SO sorry that you've got to jump through all of these hoops.  People on the other end of the phone, fax machine, computer don't realize it's your life - to them, it's just another piece of paper, another complaining, impatient "customer."  Kudos to you for not backing down.

Keep us posted and vent away!!

Hugs,

Tia

Hey Rusty:

First off, I am sorry about your friend.  My husband's uncle used to fly for MSP and I know that it is sometimes in dangerous situations.

Next, don't let them off the hook.  You've worked so hard to get this far.  Make them accountable for their actions.  Ask for deadlines and expect them to meet them and keep notes on everything.  If all else fails, I know where the MDIPA offices are.  Let me know and we'll go sit outside until they give you an answer!  LOL.

I am sorry for your loss.

Good for you standing up and giving them a piece of your mind!  I know you will get results but that insurance is the toughest one to deal with.  They stall, deny, stall again.  keep at it and it will happen for you.  Keep us posted and vent anytime.

Dusty,

Sorry about your friend.  Such a sad loss for many.

Don't back down.  I would be contacting the woman you spoke to today everyday.  Take names and kick butt!

Good Luck!
