OMG!!!
Anyone know how long it will take a small piece of cheese to go down?? I wan't thinking, put it in my mouth and forgot to chew, chew, chew. Maybe only chewed once, sort of let it slide down like prior to surgery. Any idea how long before it finishes sliding into my pouch? Of course, I was getting ready to eat my lunch. Help

I am in the pureed stage and have pureed my chicken salad with some fat free mayo. I melted half the cheese on my salad, causing me to have a bite of the leftover cheese. I feel like i have a small pain under my left B**B but wondering if I am making too much of this and the worry is causing me to feel this pain. Its not too bad. Know what I mean?? Of course, this is happening on my first day back to work. I guess too much work is effecting my ability to think. heehee
Well, it COULD be stuck, but it WILL pass - unless of course, you throw up. Since you're still such a new post-op, I don't advise that, but if it doesn't pass (you'll know when it does because you'll feel immediate relief), then you may HAVE to.
Wait a bit and see what happens. Don't eat anything else for a bit and above all, DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING!!!! Although a lot of people advocate some hot tea, it may actually make it worse.
I think you'll be fine, but obviously, if the pain increases or doesn't go away after what is a reasonable amount of time - call your doc.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Thanks for checking on me Deb. I started my lunch at 12:30 and had that mishap. I waited until about 1:30 to start again and everything seemed to work out. I won't do that again. I think my worrying that I was going to get sick made things feel even worse. Amazing how the chewing process after surgery has to change from how I chewed before surgery. Thanks again. Colleen
