Post-opers what's your drink of choice?
Red Wine - and it kicks my ass.
I make my own version of a pina colada as well. Malibu or Parrot Bay with Club Soda and a squirt of pinapple juice -it's like a spritzer - still soda and sugar in it though, but I can do it.
And half a Guinness every so often, so filling I have it for dinner
on top of a steamed crab or two

I just had my first drink post-op on the cruise, and it was a beer (light). I debated for hours on what I was going to "try". Wine, champagne and all of the mixed drinks that I like are high in sugar, so they were out. Actually, I should have just gotten a bloody mary, since I love tomato juice, but didn't think of it at the moment. I thought the carbonation in beer would bother me, since I still can't drink soda. But, it was OK. I nursed it for about an hour, and felt buzzed after about 5 sips. But, like Tia said, the drunk goes away quickly.
Hugs!
