NEW TO ANNAPOLIS, NEED TO FIND SURGEON

Hello Everyone,

I've just relocated to Annapolis from New Jersey.  Can anyone recommend a surgeon in my area? (I've checked out the board but most seem to be in Baltimore or thereabouts..). Thanks so much and have a great day!

Welcome.  I'm on the eastern shore and had my surgery in Baltimore.  I'm not familiar with any surgeons in the area, but wanted to say hello and welcome you to the MD board.  You may want to check Anne Arundel medical center.

Just wanted to welcome you to the Maryland Board!!!!  I'm one of those in Baltimore, but if you wait a bit, I'm sure there'll be plenty of help!!!!

I am in Owings (Calvert County).  Although my doc (Dr. Afram) is in DC, the office is great.  They have the surgeon, nutritionist and psychologist all under one roof......One stop shopping.  Welcome to the Board. 

I also attend the support group meetings in Crofton.  A wonderful bunch of people!!!!!

There are no doctors doing any bariatric surgery at Anne Arundel Medical.   I think there is one practice that has office hours in Millersville, though hospital privileges are in Baltimore.   When I had my RNY done 4 1/2 years ago, I traveled to Salisbury to Delmarva Bariatric because that was the surgeon I chose.

Baltimore is not that far .. roughly 25 to 30 miles from Annapolis.

Hello and welcome to the Maryland board.  I live about 20-25 miles East of Annapolis on the Eastern Shore.  My surgeon is located in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins.

I've done a bit of research this morning and found indeed that Baltimore is not as far as I thought, lol - about a 30-minute drive for me (I'm right near 97). Not too scary, as I'm just getting used to the highways and roads here and the thought of driving alone to Baltimore was a little daunting for me as a newcomer.  So I'm checking into drs. in that area.

Confirming also that when I checked with the AAMC line at Anne Arundel Medical Center, they advised me that they don't have bariatric surgeons there.

Also, just to update: I checked out Dr. Linhardt in Glen Burnie (he is one of the surgeons yet to be listed here but is included in the search). The telephone number listed is no longer in service.

I use Dr Averbach at St Agnes and live in Annapolis. Johns Hopkins and Un of Md,. Bariatric surgeons referred me to him and St Agnes because I was to high risk for them. He is an amazing man and surgeon.  Two years post-op and my life is Beyond my wildest dreams.

If you ever want to get together let me know.I swim in Severna Park in  warm therapy pool . There are actually 2 pools there and a small gym too that I use and I work with a personal trainer in Crofton/Bowie. I also go to St Agnes support groups and Crofton support groups when I can and I hope to get to the Glen Burnie support groups when they have a meeting. I may be missing them I am not online as much as I was because my life is so very full now. I am loving life. I couldn't get out of bed before now I can't find time to get into bed ever. So if you ever want to join me let me know.
