New to Maryland had surgery approved in Tennessee

Hi all,
I am new to Maryland. I had to move due to a job. After 2 years of researching and all the pre-op stuff you have to go through for lapband 2 weeks after I moved the surgeon in Tennesse called and said they were ready to schedule the surgery. So as you can imagine I am totally bummed. But they said everything is transferrable to a surgeon here. Can anyone suggest a good surgeon? I live in Southern Maryland and realize that I will have to go to D.C Baltimore, or Virginia to get it. Any input would be very helpful.

I am banded and highly recommend Dr. Schweitzer at Johns Hopkins Bayview.  I know it's not in Southern Maryland, but he is a wonderful surgeon and worth the travel.  If you want a surgeon closer to home be sure that it is someone who isn't mainly a RNY surgeon.

Welcome to Maryland!  Drs' Singh and Averbach are in Baltimore, and in the county, so no city traffic to deal with.  Dr Singh was my surgeon and I wouldn't  trade him for the world!  Although, I think all of us Marylanders have great surgeons and would stand by them, so I think you have great options!

Hey there!  I'm in LexPk, too.

I used Dr. Schweitzer in Baltimore/JHU, but investigated other surgeons in the Northern VA, MD and DC area.

My sister is investigating lap band surgery with Dr. Barry Green in Rockville.  I went to his informational seminar and was very impressed.

I live in Southern Maryland (Solomons) and I used to go to Dr. Schweitzer at John Hopkins in Baltimore.  But, I find it alot easier on me to drive to Fairfax, Va for fills.  I see Dr. Halmi and he is with the Potomac Hosp.  He is very caring.  Good luck with the band.  Diane
