Last weekend bike ride - Civil War Century

LAst weekend The Baltimore Bicycling Club sponsored a ride in Thurmont.  These rides are rain or shine events - its just too much to think you can move a ride for 1600 people with countless volunteers etc for a few drops of rain.  But with Hanna bearing down they postponed the ride to Sunday and it went off without a hitch!  If you recall, Sunday was beautiful.  I WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS RIDE LAST YEAR!!!  Yes, I've always ridden my bike, even as a 250 lb girl, but not in hills and its been YEARS since I've ridden mountains.  I'll admit they found as many valleys as they could for this ride (we did the 64 mile option) and it was beautiful.  We started in Thurmont and biked a bit south before we came up north and rode through Gettysburg before getting back to Thurmont.  All in all I spent 5 hours in the saddle and 6 hours total on the ride (rest stops, etc.).  I didn't walk a single hill, I wore cycling shorts (baggies - but they were still bike shorts) and even a cycling jersey.   It was just Jimmy and I - Ethan was at Grammy and Pop's.  Here's a few pics.

  






Holy crap - could they be any smaller?  I suck at this - haha!  Well, at least that way I look skinnier!
