There is a WLS outcome research study being conducted at Johns Hopkins Bayview.
The person to call if interested is Ginny, at 410-550-9278.
They need people preop with all surgery types.  They already have enough RNY preops, but are still accepting preops for DS, VSG, and Lapband.

Jen, Congrats, I think that is great! That is something I would have signed up for, when I was pre-op. Not for the money, although that's not too shabby. But, to help those people who will benefit from it, *****ally need to make the change in their life, like I needed to make the change in mine.
Hugs!

Kathy,
Yes, the study is paid, but really it's disbursed over such a long period of time it won't make a huge difference.  But it does compensate for time missed from work.  The research will help others like us who are looking into WLS.  I spent a lot of time reading research before I chose WLS myself.
I have my second visit this morning at 7:30.  I'll see if this is for me or not after today.
They had to cram my 3 preop visits close together due to my surgery being so close.  less than 3 weeks!!  TTYL!  and Happy Birthday!!

I think that's wonderful, always need to improve things through research.  Best of luck to you!

Thanks, Christy.  Wed went fine other than the CT which I hated since I have to lie flat on my back.  My back doesn't do that very well, and it hurts.  I'm going in this morning for some more tests and then if I can stand to go through all that is needed at today's visit, I have one other visit before my surgery.

Hey Jen!!

Good for you!!!!  That sounds like an awesome study!!!  And, as previously pointed out, the $$'s not too shabby, either!!  You can put it toward post-op clothes!!!!

If you have time, you might want to journal your experience to share with us.

Good luck and call me if you need anything!!

Hugs,

Tia

funny you should say to journal about my journey!  I was just telling you in another thread that I wished you would journal about your WLS journey in that empty profile of yours!  I will if you will!  JK I will anyway.  Who am I kidding.  I am addicted to my OH blog.

I wanted to participate in the study, too, but the distance to Bayview and the frequency of the visits made it a difficult thing for me to do.  I already participate in a cancer study at the National Cancer Institute in DC, and that lasts until 2011.

Good luck with your study!

I wish they had had this when I was pre-op.
