I'm Approved!!!!

Hello everyone!  I've been kind of a "fly on the board" for a while now, posting every now and then, but...I wanted to share my excitement....after about a year, my insurance company FINALLY approved me for surgery!!!!!  My nutritionist called me on Wednesday to let me know!! 

They referred me to Dr. Paul Lin at GWU.  I've called and left two messages and they haven't returned my call yet...  The referral is good through December 1st...so I don't know if that means I have to have the surgery by then or not.  I sent my Nut an email to find out!!

  Wow- Congrats!!  A year of waiting....patience is a virtue.  I recall I  was relentless and not at all patient waiting for the approval...I was calling the insurance co and financial person at surgeons office at least once a week...not including emails and faxes. 

Do they have other surgeon referral options?  Just curious as some surgeons have quite a long waiting list and are booked for upcoming surgeries for several months.  Just my inpatience coming thru again...proceed at your own pace.

It has felt more like ten years instead of one!!  I'm not sure about the referral options, but you'd think they would at least return my call and tell me if they have a wait list!  I'm going to give them a few more days, but in the mean time, I have an email in to my Nut to try to help me figure some things out!

Hi Marnie, I'm glad to see you're not being a fly on the wall today!  Congratulations on your approval.  *****ferred you to Paul Lin at GWU...your nutritionist, your primary doctor, or your insurance co?  Best of luck to you. You're off the starting line! 

Thanks!  All 3 referred me to him.  Actually, the official letter says that my primary doctor referred me...but the only thing he did was refer me to the nut a year ago!  I've been seeing her since last August or so, and once my time with her was finished, she submitted everything to the "board" and they approved me.  They are the ones who actually decided which surgeon they wanted me to go to.
