WOW! I was shocked to see that. Its not even raining here yet but I guess the State is taking no chances this time around. Stay safe everyone!!!!!

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

A statewide effort is underway to ensure everyone is prepared for Tropical Storm Hanna. Memories of Hurricane Isabel have everyone on alert.

Jessica Kartalija reports as Hanna makes her way up the East Coast, Marylanders are bracing for what's to come.

"We opened up all of our storm drains, our gutters, made sure all the leaves are out. We're ready, I think," said one homeowner.

The heaviest rainfall is expected to come Saturday morning and Saturday mid-day.

Governor Martin O'Malley has just issued a statewide declaration of emergency while state and local officials ensure everyone is prepared.

"In Baltimore County, we are asking that people watch the news, watch the messages coming out from the local emergency management staff. If conditions deteriorate, we will let them know what to do, what protective actions to take and where they can expect to see the worst," said Asst. Chief Mark Hubbard with Baltimore County Fire.

Hurricane Isabel is an eerie reminder of what could happen. Isabel destroyed homes and displaced residents back in 2003.

"Whenever we deal with storms, we always go back to Hurricane Isabel and the problem was the unpredictability," said Hubbard.

Maryland emergency managers say four out of four models show Hanna will brush by the Chesapeake Bay. High winds could shut down the Bay Bridge for hours.

"With severe weather planned for the area, be mindful of the fact that power outages should be expected.  Plan for these things by having a sufficient number of flashlights, back-up batteries and other devices to be used for lighting," said Battalion Chief Matthew Tobia with Anne Arundel County Fire.

A declaration of emergency allows the state to use the National Guard to ask other states for help and request federal aid.

My finance works for Anne Arundel County. When he went into work this morning the told him that he is going to be working 6pm Satuday - 6am Sunday. Normally they call the guys in but not this time. They are taking no chances I guess. Better to be prepared then be caught with their pants down. All I have to say is time in half sounds good for us. Feel bad that he has to work that much, but he is use to it in the winter working the snow storms.

Be Safe This Weekend Everyone.

It is raining here in the Eastern panhandle but I don't think we will get really bad out here.

Hi Jilly,

We are just getting rain since last night. It slows down a bit and then it picks up again.  A neighbor invited us for a cookout and I guess that is out now. :-(  Oh well, atleast the kids, Gino and I can watch movies together. lol

I hope it doesn't get any worse for you guys. keep us posted.

As for Gino he is doing fantastic.  He was complaining of some pain in his pouch for two days I made him call DVR and he was told to take carafate to help with the acid bothering him. Since he started taking it the pain is now gone. He will take for 2 weeks and then he will stop.  He does take prevacid daily so hopefully he will be fine when he is done with the carafate.

He has one more week of the mushy stage, he is tolerating liquids and food perfect. He says he can't wait for solids.  lol Then we shall see how that goes.  I am constantly making sure he remembers to sip and walk all the time. lol

Thanks for asking!!!

Hugs,

It's ok about the typo it happens all the time. I know exactly what you meant. lol

He is on the mushy stage and is tolerating everything perfectly.  He even gets his required amount of fluids and is working on getting most of his protein in.

He has been doing way better than I did. It took me a good long while to recover. I am very proud of him.
Thanks for the support!
