Hi all, I just wanted to say Good Morning.  It's Friday,  and I for one am glad the weekend will soon be here so I can relax.

I am getting real close to surgery and I have started making lists.  Any suggestions about what to bring to the hospital?

Any thoughts or experiences re  Bayview Hospital or Dr Schweitzer?

Any advice at all, bring it!

I'll be on OH some this weekend so I hope I'm not the only one!

Hi Jen!!

TGIF - AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took lip balm, shampoo (I washed my hair in the sink the day after surgery - LOL!), deodorant and some magazines to the hospital with me.  The hospital had everything else I could've needed.  I didn't even open a magazine, just tried to rest as much as I could.

For the ride home, since you have a long one - a pillow, comfy, stretchy pants and t-shirt.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything else you might need.  Bayview's not too far from me, though, so if you need anything, give a yell!!

Hugs,

Tia

Hey Jen!

I went to UMMC for my surgery and they really told me to only bring comfortable clothes and nothing that would be too tight around the abdomen.  However they wouldn't let me KEEP anything with me.  My parents had to take it all with them then I could wear stuff on the day they released me.  Well by the time they released me, my mom cleared out the whole room (I was in a private room) of all the little "souvenirs" (bed pan, extra slippers, etc...you get the point)  LOL.  So I still have it sitting in my livingroom gathering dust.  Is hould have told her to take it home with her LOL

As far as like books to read, well you might get a chance to read a book or so on the release day.  I didn't buy the TV channels so we were pretty much sitting in my hospital room staring at each other while they watched me try to get in a whole liter of fluid LOL

Hi Aaron
UMMC sounds like a strict place.  They were the same way when my sister had her baby there. Your Mom took the bedpan home with you!? LOL!  I hope Bayview lets me keep my bag with me.  I would like to be able to know where my things are.  Hugs,

Hi Jennifer

Less than a month! I know it has been a long wait for you and I am so happy it is finally going to happen.    Both Aaron and Tia just about covered all of what you need to bring.  I would just like to add, as the weeks and days get close to the surgery date. remember to relax, stay positive and keep your mind busy I know this helped me.  If there is anything I can do let me know.  Have a great weekend!!

Hugs,
Terri

Thank you, Terri.
I will try.  Right now I am kind of obsessed with the details, but afterward I want to have everything I will need in the house for a couple weeks.  Hugs,

Hi Jennifer!!

Your time is nearing quickly. How exciting!!

I took the same things Tia took and I didn't even looked at my magazines or book. I watched tv when I was up and walked around a lot and slept!!

Everything that Tia suggested is really all you will need.
Have a wonderful relaxing weekend.

Hugs,

Thanks, Cira.
I haven't seen you here in a few days.  I hate to read in bed anyway, but TV watching will be ok.  Speaking of relaxing this weekend, I slept in way too much today.  It must have been all the rain.  Hugs,
