Dr. Singh wants me to start this ( I am awaiting approval from my insurance company) next week.  It seems like an impossible feat! Will I really be full drinking protein shakes? What other tips can anyone give me?

Also, how long did it take some of you lap banders to return to work after surgery?

Thanks all for your input!!

Hi there!!

What other types of liquid will you be able to drink?  Yes, you CAN be full on protein shakes - the trick is to find the ones that have the lowest amount of carbs/sugars and the highest amount of protein possible.  Protein is what will keep you feeling full.

I didn't have lapband, I had RNY, and I milked my leave for about 8 weeks!

Sorry I couldn't help more.

you should ask arlene the nutritionist.
she will tell you exactly what you want to know.

Ditto on what Neil said, Arlene or someone there should be able to give you a list of what you can have during the liquid phase.  I did it for 2 weeks before surgery and my advice, stay ahead of the hunger.  It will feel like you are constantly drinking or "eating" (s/f jello, pudding, etc) but it helps a lot. The first day I went too long between having anything & felt so sick and weak by the time I got home from an appointment I could barely get off the couch until my bf made me a protein shake.   After that first day I made sure I did not let myself get that hungry again and it went pretty well.  The first couple days are the worse, but you can do it!
