good news and bad news

good news....   i am down to 213 today, which means i broke the 50 mark for a total loss of 51 pounds!  i try really hard to only weigh myself once a week because my counselor says it's important to not get in the habit of jumping on the scale all the time.  however, i knew i was getting close to this milestone and i wanted to see if i had hit it.  good, good feeling.

bad news...  earlier this week, i felt like i was getting an adhesion in area where my drain was.  this is normal for me following surgery.  dvr had to spend an extra hour inside me cutting away adhesions from previous surgeries.  i even called to ensure it was normal and was told absolutely.  fast forward to last night.  it seemed to be hurting a little more than usual last night and i rubbed it.  when i did, i felt a lump inside the area where it hurts.  it's hard to describe the area... to right of belly button.. maybe an inch up.  could be my upper intestinal area.  this morning, it still hurts (not big pain, just very sore, especially to the touch.. like a bruise inside) and the lump feels wider, if that makes sense.

okay... yell at me... i have huge plans today, tomorrow and sunday.  and today is dvr's day off.  i really do not want to call him out of fear that he will make me get it checked right away.  i promised my 11 year old a "mommy/daughter day" and we're about to leave for pedicures, sushi,  movie, haircuts.  tomorrow is the terp's season opener and we'll be there at 9:45 to tailgate for a 3:45 game!  yes, i'm a fanatic.

since i'm not in huge amounts of pain and i'm not having eating difficulties and no other symptoms, can i wait to call dvr on tuesday??????

You are an adult and you know the answer to that question! You may be just fine for the short term and then again, now may be the perfect time to nip something potentially serious in the bud.

debbie... you were supposed to say 'that doesn't sound serious.. you'll be fine.'

any ideas what you think it might be?  i didn't put this in my post, but i'm having a lot of issues with constipation.  i'm just sad/aggravated because everything has been going so well.

we are leaving for our pedicures.  i will call before i leave and leave the message to call my cell.  i figure i may as well start out doing what we have planned because it will take a little while to hear back, etc.  so even if he makes me go get it checked, we will have accomplished some of our fun.

I think its a good idea to call:  and maybe you can get it checked out while you are out with your daughter.  I'm thinking it could be a hernia? But don't panic till you talk to DVR.

If worse comes to worse and he cann't see you there are always emergency rooms over

the weekend

Congrads on the weight loss.  Way to go.

I think you know the answer to your question.  Most certainly you should call the doctor, you yourself have already said it's getting worse, prolonging it even more could cause whatever it is to get even worse.  What if something in there, don't know what, but would burst or something.  You're 11 year old will recover you'll make it up to her, I think she'd rather have a well momma than a momma how could have to possibly be hospitalized because she ignored the problem.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR>>>  You might not even eat up the whole day with the issue.

Wish you well.  Let us know what happens.

I am glad you called. I did not think it was worth the risk of waiting.  I think the constipation thing may be unrelated. I had a lot of problems getting that right in the beginning too. I hear it is quite common.

Enjoy your pedicaure and let us know what DvR says!

First congrats on the weight loss!   Second I am glad you called the doctor.   If the constipation thing  is new it is possible you could be getting an Ileus( a bowel obstruction).  I had two of them of course they were pre surgery and they resolved with medications. Then like the others said it could be a Hernia either way you will feel much better all the way around once you find out for sure. Keep us posted!

Hugs,
Terri

i did call dvr.  that man is so nice.  i was totally amazed that the number i thought was an after hours service is actually his cell phone!  we talked and he doesn't think it's a hernia from the surgery because he says that they usually occur around an incision site.  but yes, i was thinking hernia, so it's interesting that others were too.  he told me some things to try to deal with the constipation and told me that if i wanted to come in and be seen this weekend to just call him and he would meet me at his office, but he's comfortable with waiting until tuesday too.  he made it MY choice.  seriously guys.... no doctor has EVER been this accommodating for me!
